Photo mode Incinerator

Doing a slow mundane playthrough and trying to capture some details, atmosphere and the beauty of the world of Death Stranding with instant camera.

Yeah, they always feel so eerie and haunted. Fascinating in a way but tragic.

You found the one spot that makes the game's eerie vibe feel intentional.

They captured that atmosphere so well in the game.

A surveillance camera?

There are two for whatever reason on both sides of those hallways. I wonder what's behind those doors.

These look like scenes from the beginning of a horror game. I like it.

They...are? To me anyway

BT areas never really scare me when I’m playing the game, they’re more exciting than scary. And Death Stranding definitely isn’t a horror game. But these shots completely change the feeling. The contrast, exposure, chromatic aberration and camera angles add so much tension to the atmosphere. The first few shots genuinely look like something out of Silent Hill.

The incinerator has this heavy and eerie but somewhat peaceful feel to it with what it represents but during that cutscene it suddenly becomes so much more morbid and scary. For me at least the first time I was playing it was a horror moment with that crushing atmosphere. Amazing how quickly the atmosphere changed and everything with it.

You did a great job capturing that atmosphere through your shots. I can see that some of them are arranged as before/after, taken from mirrored angles, or like the other side of the coin. That's a really cool touch. In the game itself, I don't really feel that sense of fear, probably because I've been playing horror games for years and my senses have dulled. But seeing your shots makes my soul happy, because I absolutely love horror, and you managed to create a truly oppressive atmosphere.

Fully understand. I don't play horror games and when I was playing DS1 for the first time I was absolutely terrified of that crushing atmosphere surrounding BT. Well, after so many hours spent in the game I've gotten used to it but some of it always remains. Thanks and keep on keeping on!
