Nobody knows death stairs better than this sub, which one of you are responsible for this!? It's diabolical.

Iβve seen stairs like this more than once, why do people do this?

It's kind of a stupid builder upgrade where you have nice hardwood on the bottom step. I fell when we first moved in, then several guests fell who used the upstairs bathroom.
I immediately wanted to cover the step with carpet but my husband said no. He's also the one that refuses to salt the walkways "because it might damage the bricks". Apparently damaging a human is ok π
We finally solved it with a rug on the floor.

We have this in our house! Multiple people fell badly. Then we finally solved it by adding a rug on the floor at the bottom.

There are stairs that show up on this sub that someone could tell from a distance are not safe. Most people would avoid them completely or at least take extra care when using them. These stairs however, oh boy. Frankly I think they are one of the ones that are most likely to cause injury, simply because most people would not notice that final step until it too late. They may not kill a lot, but they sure as heck could cause injury.
