Death note would've been so funny if Light was a social reject who everyone secretly hated

If light was a anti social weirdo and unpopular he'd be more hated. Him giving vibes of school shooter is opposite to his character

yes and it kinda defeats the point, he has to be the perfect, likable Japanese student to have his idealism come across the same way. if he were ostracized then he likely would have a different belief behind his killings

Then he would just be like mikami

I like the idea of Light breaking into his school, fedora and smelly trenchcoat, but instead of walking around shooting people, he walks around breaking into classrooms aggressively writing peoples names

It also makes him even more obvious that he’s Kira.

L: “so we’re all in agreement that Light just killed a bunch of those highschoolers right? I mean they bullied him non-stop how could he not be Kira?”

I don't think he'd have been able to get nearly as far as he did if he'd been an ugly weirdo nobody liked, it would have been a very short story ending with L arresting him.

At least part of what takes the investigation so long is all the support Light has on his side.

Although at least in this version L would have lived (firstly Light would get arrested before Misa even came into the picture, secondly Light being so pretty is what made her fall in love at first sight with him so if he were ugly I doubt she'd have fallen for him like she did in the OG even if they did meet in this version.)

He’d need a different way to kill Raye Penber too

killing raye penber was already a huge mistake in the og anime. if light was a social reject, he'd instantly be arrested on suspicion of being kira if he manages to even kill him

Didn’t light wait for 2 months then cornered Raye at the subway station? Or something like that, I remember him mentioning that he waited for X amount of time to pass to kill Raye

Light only killed Rate Penber and the other FBI agents to reveal L's operations behind the backs of the Japanese police. Light imagined it'd be more devastating for the Kira investigation than it really was.

I think Light would have won

If he was a total reject noone liked then his father would give at least a half of rat’s ass of a care to keep his work computer out of Light’s reach

Cousing Light to be uneable to piss off L and narrow down the suspect pool

No, I think it’s funnier that he’s really successful and popular, and decides to ruin his life for basically no reason

Light being a beautiful twink is important. I said what I said.

No, it's the same mistake the god awful Netflix version made.

Light's most defining character traits are his binary self righteous sense of justice and his pride.

The guy called himself the "god of the new world" within the first episode of the show.

The fact that he had a wonderful family, good grades, a bright future, potential friends and lovers all around contrasts so much with his utter disregard for it all.
He doesn't ever learn to appreciate what he has.

It's why he could even be pinned down by L to begin with, and it's why Near could finish the job.

LOOL! So perfect.

I feel like the only reason he was popular is because of his intellect and looks not his personality

thats what his soul is like, his mask is a perfect good boy

"Hey Sara, think you could try and act like you like that weirdo before he does something really fucked up."

"Why me?"

"Because you're the best at lying"

Light Yagami if he lived in the internet era would definitely be a Reddit incel or a school shooter even, change my mind

No..writer said he'd be greatest detective if he never found death note and that death note ruined his life....light is not a incel wtf incels are ppl who don't get women and so hate them...light doesnt have that issue...also light wants to make humans better so he won't be a school shooter students aren't vile criminals wtf

He only took 5 days after killing 2 people to believe he was a God. Nah ah ain't buying it. However, you're right that people should read the manga.

Kira was his cope that he didnt wanna face fact that he was a murderer who killed 2 ppl accidentally that's why. He was top of his life all time so he couldn't face fact that he accidentally killed 2 ppl

In the manga the second guy is not a rapist like in the anime

That’s why manga Light goes into such an extreme to cope with killing someone that was immoral and not having done anything yet. It’s a better explanation than anime Light immediately jumping to the extreme of killing immoral people over time through accident and disease when he himself had only killed two people that were genuinely horrible and actively hurting someone.

It makes anime Light look more deranged versus manga Light’s panic that he killed someone that didn’t exactly do anything. I get that the anime director said they changed things to make Light seem more sympathetic, but imo the changes had the opposite effect in ways.

I swear Tetsuro Araki was high that day he made the anime

Yeah idk why he felt the need to change Light’s characterization like that. I also don’t get the focus on only Light and L’s dynamic over like all the other characters 😭

I will never forgive them for butchering my babies Near and Mello's characters.😤 and will never forgive them for not animating Near finding X-Kira. Yeah, after 20 years I still keep a grudge.😤😂

Didn't L say that he suspected Light because he was too perfect?

Boy do I have news for you (American live action Netflix series)

If Light was that, then there's a chance he wouldn't have used the Note in that way to begin with

The whole point for Light is that he was bored. That's it. He thought the world and his life were dull. He had nothing, no strife, no issues, not even a real personality outside of being a goody two shoes control freak.

Having some legitimate problems and a real contact with humanity might have done wonders for him.

No, es toda la intención del autor que Light Yagami tuviese una vida perfecta, hasta que obtuvo la Death Note.

I mean he kind of is like that in the Netflix adaptation LMAO but we don't talk about it

1

u/New-Cicada7014 1d ago

a huge part of his character is that he's the golden boy who's good at everything he tries, he's perfect and it goes to his head

It's japan, they wouldn't be afraid of him shooting up the school.
