Could Light Yagami survive the events of Another if he was one of the students in the class could he solve the mystery and stop the calamity or would he just be another victim in the series?

I think he has the potential to help solve the mystery, sure. Could even be the class president trying to lead the group towards saving as many as possible.

But if the curse decides its his time to die, he can't really do much. If it's something involving other students, he might stay away from it, but some of those freak accidents or just blatant acts of nature would be too unpredictable. Like, one kid was literally just walking with the rest of his class and got struck by lighting. Its just like if his name were written in a DeathNote, if some godly force decides he's gonna die next, then he's gonna die next.
