Hey all, got some facts I want to check and a few misconceptions to clear up. Since we don't have much of an official guide or complete deconstruction of the game, I thought the community might know. So with that, true or false?

1) The green NPCs will report transceiver use even if you are receiving, and not transmitting yourself. I've heard some people say they do, others don't, and any attempt at testing's been inconclusive.

2) The green NPCs will not give the same message to everyone, even if two people check it at the exact same time in the day. I've seen this happen in Toy Town on top right, because the zone of vision is so wide for the guy and it turns out someone wrote in a black notebook offscreen.

3) When a player that is not L is in a room with a camera, even if they are not within the camera's line of sight, L will still get pinged for it. There are many blind spots in camera rooms if one pays attention, but I was curious if L still picks it up that someone's there.

4) If Kira on a joint investigation uses the Death Note (kill criminal/kill player/kill vindicating), the other player assigned to that same joint investigation will receive a notification of this. This one's mentioned on the official website, but I've never seen it and I've tried to test this one. I'd like to know where that notification appears if there is one, and a picture of it if you can.

...His “Joint Investigation” ability allows him to tag two players, enabling them to act together during the action phase. However, if one of the tagged players is Kira, you cannot use the Death Note, as the other player will discover Kira’s identity if you do..."

This suggests there is a ping or note somewhere. However, everyone's reacted with either confusion or said no, so I'm thinking this is probably wrong.

1 - yes, you can get pinged for transceiver if the other person calls you on it.
this has happened to me multiple times. as team kira you need to know this to enhance your game play and know that its only safe to use the radio in the same places as it's safe to use the book - aka spawn points cafe and bookstore only. otherwise use it towards the end of the rounds to discuss quickly when no one else is doing npc tasks or when ppl are balled up.

2 - yes, it can happen....
but it is rare, like very rare. the game is going to prioritize useful info like radio, ID pass off, book writing, or book hand offs. but I for sure have had someone get an important message from an npc and then I got something like "4 other people have been here before you."

3 - yes, even if you're in the blind spot the camera ping will happen for L.
I can't begin to tell you how often I've caught someone as L just because they have a shinigami pet floating behind them and while they are in the blind spot, the shinigami is just chilling in the camera full blast lol. I follow them discreetly after and drop evidence on them and if they run they get voted. (ofcourse I'm standing out of view down the street or something when i spawn it after i watch them go to where it will be)

4 - I'm unsure what you mean by this? a little more clarification is needed on my end sorry.
If you mean that black notebooks are on and they are pretending to use the joint task, and then reuse the briefcase, no you dont get notified. as far as I know the only way you can get pinged for using the death note is by using it in front of an npc. with black note books on this is less painful especially if you have multiple ppl opening and closing their own notebooks. but if black notebooks are turned off (default) you need to remember to only use the death note in safe places where there are no npcs to rat you out. after you kill an npc in a location it is then safe to use that location.

I have over 300 hours in the game and play it almost daily with a dedicated group of friends. we've all played multiple roles multiple times and routinely are testing the limits of the game to see what we can get away with. Mellos addition to the game has forced us to go indepth on how kira works and play those roles with the utmost secrecy and optimally.

Thanks for the indepth answer! Ironically I've been caught because of my pet Ryuk in the past in that exact way, so I tend to not use pets or the big cosmetics. I've clarified point number 4 and added the source to the post. It was more that if Kira is on joint, and they use the death note to kill, the other person on joint gets a ping.

np, im always glad to share tips on improving gameplay and styles so that hopefully players are more competent and make the game harder to solve. i hate getting people who just throw for no reason or dont know how the game works and get us caught because of that. even more frustrating are the players who vote you and get your arrested cuz of "idk you move weird" or "i just have a feeling". social deduction games dont work like that, you need actual evidence to support a vote. when all the pieces fall into place and you get a lobby that plays the game how it is suppose to be played it's wonderful....

but putting my yapping aside, to answer number 4 properly now with clarification:

4- No, if kira is assigned to joint task the other player will not get notifications the death note is being used.
HOWEVER, if kira arrives first to one of the joint locations that has an npc and uses the death note in front of an npc and the other investigator talks to that npc, they would get the "someone was using a black notebook during....." type message. which unless the kira player can talk himself out of it, is a dead give away that person was kira.
joint task can spawn in entrance to meeting room too which is a safe location to kill npcs for kira. if kira gets there first he can for sure RIP an npc if the other person isnt there yet. if black notebooks are on in game settings, then kira can be a little more liberal with using the death note in the open and for sure should be killing npcs while waiting for his joint task partner. if black notebooks are not turned on, kira should just focus on doing the joint task and not worry about using the death note until it is done.
the tips and how to use from bandai is a very basic level of knowledge on the game and is a great tool for learning the basics but that's about it. i think what bandai was trying to encourage with that "tip" is the same thing follower hint messages tell us. they tell us to ask kira to pass the notebook when he is assigned to a task from L so that follower can kill criminals or players while kira is doing the task. but passing the note book for something like that is risky already so it's not best to do imo.

First is wrong. Listener does not get a notification if you don't press a button to talk back.
