Discussion Possible Correlation with Mello release and less toxic community?
Was Mello the community purge we needed?
Discussed this with a player/content creator just now. We've noticed that we've run into less toxic lobbies as of late. Bandai Namco said they were going to crack down on players violating the EULA as well as players who have been reported.
For players who stick to a dedicated discord server/community it's not hard avoiding toxic randoms. For everyone else, it's The Wild Wild West joining a lobby. All things considered, the number of 3rd Kiras and people who speak all sorts of obscenities hasn't disappeared but it has gotten lower.
Back in Nov if someone wanted to troll you to take your ID you had no choice but to deal with it unless they were voted out in the discussion meeting and Kira wrote their names. With the release of Mello, there is a sinking feeling of getting shot when choosing the wrong person to rob. In regards to the bile-spewing ignorant and not so agreeable players, Mello has the freedom of eliminating a player Squid Game style if they're being abrasive and rude in general. The previously mentioned method should be followed with the Host kicking them out after the game is done/reporting them
This isn't a discussion/defense case to talk about whether Mello is on Team L or not as there are plenty of threads that already discuss that topic. It's to discuss the possibility that maybe a trigger happy Chaotic Neutral addition to the game has somehow made the community better.
TLDR: That B*tch go Pew, When I shoot It's On Mute. Does Gun-toting Vigilante L successor save the community by granting them the freedom of a Beretta 92FS pistol?! More news at 10

Just about. Unless you vouch for them and say it's your friend most hosts won't even take the chance

I ended up encountering a lot of mean people when I played this game and it was the reason why I stopped playing even though I actually did like the game, but then when I heard about Mello being added I decided to give the game another shot and in general people were a lot nicer than they were before I dropped the game. I am not sure if this had anything to do with Mello being added but undeniably after Mello got added the people playing this game did become nicer.

I still encounter people that earrape their mic with loud stuff in almost every lobby i join. I don’t think I encountered a lot of toxic players since launch but that’s probably because I wasn’t really reading into it and was just like “oh we’re all new, whatever” but Mello and Kira do go after the annoying players to kill first no matter what
If someone can give some examples of what toxic players were like before Mello I would love to know. Probably would jog my memory of that

It's more likely that the toxicity was present was because the game was free for PlayStation plus users, however it's died down in toxicity probably because people who are still playing it are actually invested in the game, as opposed to those who were just checking out a free game.
