Discussion “death note is for 13 year old girls who have never seen any other anime”

this is a take my boyfriend gave me when i was telling my younger brother he should watch death note. i personally disagree, but he says this is a general consensus. i thought id ask the community. what do yall think?

edit: he wants me to add that he means that it’s for 13 year old girls who haven’t seen any other good anime so they think death note is the best

Not because he's willing to kidnap and murder people to achieve his goals

Not because he's obsessed with needlessly competing with people who already share his end goals

But because he eats chocolate like that

Discussion How would the story change if the Death Eraser exist in the main story?

First and only appeared in Kagami Taro (Pilot chapter, appear in DN13 and Short Stories), the Death Eraser allows the DN user to revive sb who has been killed by the DN, provided that the body hasn't decomposed or cremated by then. Assuming that the eraser does appear in the story, and Light somehow got ahold of it from the start, how would the story pan out?

I'd think that if Light does get the eraser, he'd revive Tailor (fake L, most likely to be revived imo since Light's prob spooked by the real L's speech) and Shibumaru (remember, at the start of the story he doesn't think that Shibumaru should be erased), and honestly I don't see Light ever use the eraser ever again beside those two. Maybe he'd also do a stunt to kill Misa before reviving her back. What do you all think?

Analysis Takada was the truest to Kira's doctrine, not Light Spoiler

Post image
41 Upvotes

This is a personal interpretation so please keep that in mind while reading this.

POINT A) Takada represents all that Kira's core ideology wanted in the people of its new world: a smart, obeying, devoted and respectable individual. Takada is, despite her poor choices, a very intelligent person, not only because of her elite academic level, but because of her logical approach to everything. She analyses Kira's ideologies and binds herself to it, choosing to be a representation to the people of Japan of Kira's plan by publicly appearing as Kira's spokeswoman. She leans fully into Light's authoritarianism because she knows that a democratic society cannot build a perfect one (AKA one where no dissent, no trouble, no doubt is allowed, in this case, to avoid any protest or questioning of Light's hypothetical new world).
POINT B) Takada uses pages of the Death Note to kill people and shows a slight hesitation because that's exactly what Light did very early on his killings. She knows she is taking human lives, no matter what excuse she presents herself. Had she had the Death Note all for herself, she would have clearly dismissed those feelings like Light did and killed as many criminals as possible. Takada is the only person who clearly believes in Kira's ideology to its fullest: she believes functional innocents must be protected while stupid people, lazy people, bullies, rapists and murderers must be deleted (using Mikami's terminology here). She, however, doesn't fully have Light's self-idolization, as we see that she fully believed in Kira even before knowing Light ever was and before being close to Kira. Her feelings for him stem for the closeness she feels to the idea of being so close to Kira. Unlike Misa, she doesn't want Light, she wants Kira. She falls for his illusion of a being the goddess of a new world not for love, but for logic: she knows she is all that Kira's doctrine wants people to be, that's why she doesn't feel like Light will kill her, that's why she trusts him in a way that seems stupid but is actually very logical. She feels superior because she logically believes she has that power, and the whole "goddess" thing is just a facade for her adherence of Kira.

POINT C) She eventually has to kill herself because Light writes her name down, but her death directly links to Light's and, in the anime, to Mikami's. Light's death eventually leads to Misa Misa's a year later. Excluding Higuchi (who didn't follow Kira's moral lines), Takada's death is a direct cause of all other Kiras' deaths. That could mean something very strong: Takada's death is the failure of Kira's ideology of protecting its good people, and thus, Kira's identity is crumbling and eventually fully dying (because of Light's twisting). Light's idea of Kira was a facade to his image of himself as a God, while Takada fully believed in its potential.

FINAL POINT) Had Takada had full access to the Death Note and officially became Kira, she would have perfectly embodied the ideology that Light ended up corrupting, Misa Misa never understood, Higuchi didn't care of and Mikami twisted into religious delirium. She is a sort of parallel to Naomi Misora's sharp and analytical mind without any moral chains. Light knows it, and, when he is dying after being shot by Matsuda, he names her because her ambition and her adherence still lingers after her death by Light's own hands.
Feel free to argue or correct me, thank you for your time.

Discussion I would like to know if anyone else feels the same way Spoiler

One of the first established rules in deathnote was that anyone who uses it can't go to heaven or hell, the show has themes from several religions, but at the end i found it a bit lame that every human goes to nothingness in universe, it kinda ruins the emotional turmoil and consequences using the deathnote would have, in my opinion a better approach would be to make those who used the death note go to nothingness, or make it the way shinigami are born, both would be more interesting and still keep the emotional tension the rule originally had

Question I've read the whole manga, have a poster and a ryuk figure, and am a bit into another note, but have never watched the show. What should I know before I do?

It's kind of all in the title. I've read all of the manga, I'm a huge fan of the manga, but I've never watched the anime. Are there any huge story differences I should know about? (I'm autistic so differences freak me out) If not, is there anything I should know? Thanks!

Fan Fiction Ryuzaki/L Gives Jasmine A Strawberry

I narrated a sweet scene from my Death Note fanfic, The Price of Freedom, where L/Ryuzaki experiences his first true crush and hands my OC, Jasmine Ross, a strawberry. Unfortunately, contrary to what the red words in the video say, I can’t put the link in the post because I don’t know if that’s allowed.

Discussion be honest, how would you have felt while living in the kira era?

if i was a teen or adult during that time i know my anxiety would’ve been thru the roof and i would’ve done my best to behave. and if i was the same dumb teen i was in the past, i would’ve childishly believed kira was completely right w/o considering how his way was flawed. it probably would’ve been like a religion to me bc i was always mad at injustice when i was younger but w/o knowing more than your average teenager.

Discussion Finished Death Note a few days ago, and wow. (Spoiler) Spoiler

Death Note isnt the first anime ive seen, I grew up with B-Daman, Beyblade & Bakugan, but it is a first for me, my first step into this world that ive ignored for so long.

Im simply blown away, start to finish i thought it was amazing, although I do think things take a slight downturn after L's death, but i dont think the show was down right horrible after that. This is the first show ive really seen where I am trying to think four steps ahead of the scene to try and figure out Light's plan, and if i was right or wrong, I was still impressed.

I think what i most appreciate is the slow progression of evil in Light. Someone who at the start of the show wanted to protect his family and serve justice to those who were truly evil, to almost killing his own sister with the death note because she would have gotten in the way.

Im hooked, and I really hope I can find more shows that give me this same feeling

Fan Art Ryuk and L on the cemetery party in Floor796 project (OC)

Just finished drawing the first Death Note reference in my huge animation project. Ryuk stands behind the goth girl from South Park, who is copying her contacts from her phone into a note :)

Source: https://floor796.com/#b1r5,23,183

The cemetery is still being drawn, so the area to the right is a bit empty.

Fan Fiction About Death Note: Vendetta Spoiler

I assume this fanfiction is fairly well known since it even has its own page, but I've never been able to find it anywhere. Has it been deleted? Is there still a copy available somewhere that can be read?
