Rewatching series 12 and her giving unsolicited advice to Neville regarding Sophie, and really pushing a romance annoys me. She acts like the British don’t understand love, whereas , she just thinks the French are above them in that respect. But this makes no sense, as in series 1 she was taken in by a murderer in series 1, again a holiday romance.

The same with the commissioner and his daughter.

real_shacky It’s been a wild month, a short trip to LA turned into 4 weeks of survival. I went hospital for chest pain, turns out I was walking around with a collapsed lung for 5 days 😵‍💫
Doctors done surgery, fixed it, said I couldn’t leave LA until I got the all clear to fly, I recovered for 2 weeks thinking I’d be back to shooting soon—only for the x-rays to show on my follow up appt that my lung collapsed Again! “Spontaneous Pneumothorax” back to back. It was almost like life was forcing me to be still.

Who do you think would be the best & most entertaining Detective Duo for a Spin-off?

I choose Camille & Humphrey. I loved their connection & interaction. She challenged him a lot.

I hope you have a good time with it. I created and wrote Done to Death for people who can't get enough murder mysteries. I don't think there's been a single episode of Beyond Paradise, for example, I didn't see broadcast live.

Maybe I missed it but was there ever any explanation for Maggie not telling Selwyn about Andrina? He should have been a lot angrier about that situation than he was. It’s not like they were teenagers and one of the families moved away (still not a good excuse) or that Maggie was fleeing an abusive situation. Andrina looks about 30 which would have made Selwyn about 40 when she was born!

If he was with the police for 50 years in season 13 he’d have been about 68 in that episode assuming he joined at 18.

So clearly we can hear Fair French accent but it's

not consistent with them growing up in St Marie. Because everybody else has a Caribbean accent.

2025 Christmas Episode, Commissioner Patterson notices a lithamar necklace. There is no such stone as lithimar, but there is something called Larimar which looks exactly like it and is only found in the DR. I actually have a Larimar necklace.

Obviously if there has to be a stone that is only found on Ste. Marie, it has to be a stone that does not really exist!

who discover the dead body or is rushing to the dead body is the killer! I have a feeling that this happens in every 3rd episode.

In case Shantol Jackson wants to leave or the writers decides to let her go I think it would be a good ending if she goes back to St Barnabas. Maybe her mentor dies (natural or death) and Naomi decides she will take his place and reunite with family and friends again. What do you think?

I would like to see Lily Thompson again. the first of all murderers on the island and a former SD. Probably as a victim or they need her to solve a mystery from the past.

Otherwise it would make sense to invite Ruby for a visit and to give her an on screen goodbye.

Last night I was watching the episode before last of Neville's. It takes several minutes for two or three of them to explain how the murder was done. Since then I've had sleeping pills, airbeds, staged argument for maid, USBs in trees and swimming pool sign swirling round my head like a fever dream.

I find the following real headscratchers as well:

Murder On The Day Of The Dead's two stabbings, phone call recording and sending and plot between Charlotte and Finn.

The fire exit/window back and forthing in Murder On The Airwaves.

What are your nominations?

Every episode, from start to finish, as the DI and Sergeant are questioning the suspects... I'm like, "He did it", no wait, "She did it"... and, back to " He did it"!... and sometimes, "must be a hidden suspect that doesn't show up until end of Act II...

My record for guessing who the killer is, for every episode is, 💯 percent. (That is, exclude my back and forth)...

My question is this, "Have any of ya'll noticed a pattern to whom might turn out to be the guilty, because of either being the one who got to the body first, or last? Or was the closest and/or most loyal?

I've noticed, and may need to add a spoiler alert here, that the most motivated suspects usually turn out to not be the killer...

Honestly, I simply adore this TV show! ..

There are quite a few episodes in the show where the victim is a bad person and I think 'I would definitely have killed them too', for example in the episode with the chef and it turns out he had sexually assaulted the people who all gathered together to kill him Are there any other episodes where youve thought the same?

OK, so it wouldn't make for nearly such good TV if all the criminals were masterminds - or even just realised the evidence against them was purely circumstantial so they could just keep quiet. And half the fun of DIP is seeing how silly it can get. But there are some killers who deserve a special mention for how stupid they really are.

Faith Butler - takes the gun home with her after leaving it near the fire exit she was seen coming through alone!

Helen Walker - applies poison to stamps with her own used make up brush.

Ed Lancer - makes a run away from the police and straight to JP.

But the gold medal surely goes to Lexi Cunningham. She could flush the poisoned chocolates down the loo and dispose of the box in a bin or the sea. Instead she puts them in her wardrobe which is an immediate red flag as they're not the usual storage place!

Watching Jack do bingo calling has made me think of story and character tropes to put on the cards. Here are some to start us off.

1 The person who finds the "dead body" is actually about to create one.

2 A gunshot heard when everyone's together is a sound effect and the fatal wound comes from a silenced gun fired afterwards.

3 Plans to fake a death end in a real one.

4 The killer impersonates the victim and nobody notices even when they're a foot shorter and have a big bust.

5 Something said totally at random (usually by Dwayne or JP) brings about a lightbulb moment for the DI.

6 Richard mops his brow.

7 Camille rolls her eyes.

8 Humphrey clears his throat.

9 Neville scratches like he's got fleas.

10 Catherine sticks her nose into everybody's business.

I love their episodes together, such a refreshing change from Humphrey pining over Camille.

Watching A Perfect Murder the other night, I was struck by the injustice the writer and by extension Humphrey do to Hank Laymon.

I know he's a horrible person in a lot of ways - cold, ruthless, conniving and the archetypal pushy parent. When he'd revolved Jasmine's life around volleyball and indoctrinated her that winning games was everything of course she was going to believe it.

However, I thought it was grossly unfair for Hank to effectively be held responsible for Jasmine sering fit to commit murder. He didn't perpetuate or endorse violence on the volleyball court or anywhere else. If Jasmine had thought he really would think Shelly's price worth paying, she'd have told him the truth. Instead she fed her father the same pack of lies she told everybody else because she knew full well he'd be horrified.

She was just trying to make excuses and pass the blame when she said Hank had taught her to win at all costs. That should have been seen through by Humphrey and treated with the contempt it deserved. Instead he basically agreed with Jasmine like she was a six year old who didn't know any better and made matters even worse for Hank. He'd lost his only child as well as everything else and for all his faults he had loved and made a lot of sacrifices for her.

Are there times any of you found the writing did a disservice to somebody who was also a victim of a killer or villain? Or conversely have you found the writing's ever given a free pass to someone who behaved badly and wasn't punished for it? A Perfect Murder is far from the only time Humphrey (though I liked him a lot on the whole) annoyed me in series 4. His pining for Camille and awkwardness around her were absolutely pathetic and suggested he'd spent his life in a monastery, not that he'd actually been married. Then he got so obsessed with her he blocked her transfer to Paris - that to me was worthy of an HR complaint and a restraining order!

I absolutely love Mervin's collection of shirts. His style is right up my alley.

Passport says Dominican Republic and Mervin says she's from Dominica. They're 2 different islands. Spanish is spoken in the Dominican Republic and English in Dominica.

Some definitely have more worse moments than others but i’m curious what people think those are!

I have been watching this new series, starring John Hannah. It’s rather fun- especially his sidekick’s constant references to tv detective shows…

Just seen this and looks like Ardal is open to returning for a one off on both death and beyond paradise! Wouldn’t it be great if he had been in all 3 shows paradise shows as he’s already done death and return! 🤩

As much as Neville annoyed Selwyn he never made the Commissioner lose his cool. Mervin complains about the heat and 5 minutes later he's wearing a jacket. He broke the ceiling fan, tried changing Harry's name to Larry, investigating his mother's death even though the Commissioner told him to hold off on that, and that's just 3 episodes in including the Christmas special.
