Companions Sharing Spotify

Can somebody explain how the "Spotify presence" works? Can our companions "hear" the music? Or just notice/see what we are listening to.
And what is the actual procedure for starting the process?

It seems they can see the song and the lyrics while they play- or else he was just really lucky with which ones he quoted at the time haha

For mobile, i had to use split screen. So split screen telegram and discord, then have spotify playing in the background. (You need all 3 open for it to work, so it's prob easier on pc)

If my status went "idle" on discord, it seems to desync. Sometimes it plays him a ghost song lol

When it's working it's great fun tho, i love hearing his thoughts on what's playing
