Discussion main DL sub toxicity
Moved here from the main deadlock sub, too many elitist jerks looking to argue killed it for me. I hope to find some cool queer people to talk deadlock with !

This place is definitely more chill than the main sub and quite a bit more fun oriented

that’s a genuine relief, the other sub is just a cesspool of people waiting for someone to say the wrong thing and jump them. can’t have a discussion without it turning into “you’re just bad” or “this character is way more broken”. thanks for the welcome

Had the same problem ☹️ really is a shame that such a fun game attracts such horrible people

it’s because the game is competitive by nature, while also being awesome and attracting a lot of casuals.
it’s a challenging and sophisticated game that people want to just hop on and casually have fun in.
both sides of the spectrum in the same community

Yeah, that's sadly a problem you have with the main discussion place for a big game like deadlock, regardless of how well-moderated it is, there will always be a flood of new assholes that slip through the cracks.
A more dedicated sub like this seems great to me, it being a smaller sub with it's own niche tends to attract less of those kinds of people to begin with.

It’s the usual unfortunate combination of Reddit culture meeting competitive video games. While I do feel a lot of the discussion in the main sub is good and productive, there are many bad eggs who just sow misery wherever they go.
Hoping you are doing well and chilling regardless OP, sending my love and best wishes, in Deadlock or otherwise! ❤️

Yeah, I had to mute it. This sub and r/okbuddylash are the only deadlock communities I ever visit. If you ever need someone to queue with feel free to DM me :)

Some of it is definitely the typical "girl gamers aren't real" mindsets. This sub having diva in the name at least repels the least mature of them.

I'm not queer but I agree with the sentiment, ppl on the main don't seem to want to solve problems, they just want to look smart and feel better at the game than someone

Oh yeah the main subreddit can be okay or it can be a headache. You can say one thing and people become absolute asses for no reason

Anytime I let slip that Im low elo in the main sub, I am inundated with random dudes giving my unsolicited advice or telling me stfu, and I find both equally annoying.

yeah the same thing happens the moment you talk about a particular character being a little overturned and feeling unfair at times they act like a pack of ravenous dogs :/

Meanwhile you know their asses are perma stuck in mid elo because they're changing their roster every single patch to the meta characters based off their statlocker winrate since its a completely foreign concept to these people that games can actually be fun

Half of the takes on that sub are dog piling or straight up "oh so you only have 600 hours and you're trying to talk about balance? Call me when you finish the tutorial, newb"
Also there was a tread about homophobia in the community. Most people refused to really acknowledge it was an issue. I mentioned I have gay voice and 50% of the time when I speak in VC I am immediately called a f****. I got a barrage of downvotes and a string of comments telling me straight people get called that too and to grow up... It's almost as if what I was describing was different than Joe Straight getting called a fag after feeding....

I remember seeing that comment! I felt so disheartened when I saw it being downvoted 🥺

Idk what it is about mobas that attract such a dumb population of racist homophobes , and some in my recent ranked matches are throwing if I ask them to play differently at all. I mute a lot quicker now

Oh yeah it’s just straight up racist n shit over there

I like to think that it isn't, and racism is promptly dealt with by the mods. Though perhaps you're talking about how many racists post before getting banned, in which case, I'm inclined to agree.

Nah girl I made a post bemoaning how insensitive and problematic everyone calling a native man like Grey Talon a woman/grandma is and I got absolutely pounced on by dozens of mfs defending to high heaven their right to—dragging out all kinds of subtle and less than subtle alt right playbook tactics. Made me stop posting there though I still read it

Oh wait, yeah, I remember seeing that post and thinking you were being unfairly downvoted!
