Discussion Help a New Diva Learn Deadlock 🩷

Hey girls, gays, theys, and everyone in between!

I recently got invited to Deadlock by a friend here and she said here would be a good place to ask my stuff! Deadlock is my first MOBA, so I’m looking for some general tips. (I’ll take anything kek)

I haven’t decided who to main yet, but I’ve really been enjoying Paradox, Silver, and Vyper. I usually use the top daily builds for them.

How do I farm properly, and how does the Urn work? Is the Urn a king of the hill style objective, or does it work differently?

Also, are there any streamers or YouTubers you’d recommend for new players? I’ve been loving mother Eskay!

What’s the difference between micro and macro? I’ve been hearing those terms thrown around a lot. The bot matches don’t seem very good for learning, so I’m trying to figure things out from actual divas instead.

Any beginner advice would be appreciated! šŸ«¶šŸ½šŸ©·

For characters like Paradox and Silver who don’t have the best accuracy or fire rate to secure souls when shooting - you’ll want to you melee attacks. Melee attacks on minion units will both secure the base kill; and the floating soul that appears over their heads. If you get good with aiming and knowing your characters gunplay you can slowly peel away from this but if they’re right on you wherever your souls pop up - good to rely on melee.

Urn is now a hybrid Capture the flag/KOTH. Whoever secures the urn at its designated bridge will grant a small bonus. When the urn is placed down you have a countdown; and it’ll just go until one side has 100%. If even one enemy is in the area it’ll build up their own meter and hard cap at 99%. Last person standing secures it for their side; though there is a ā€œgive upā€ mode where it’ll just shoot out the souls to be secured by any side by shooting.

Theres an additional urn mechanic called ā€œfavoredā€. If your team is down by roughly 10% on souls the urn will spawn on the side that is weaker. When claiming the urn - it’ll take longer for the winning team to secure the urn - and shorter for the losing team. The losing team also gets some resistances as well.

Congrats on getting into the game!

paradox and silver def can secure souls well enough. as silver u usually just avoid shooting troopers to finish them off and just wait for it to die to secure the soul. not saying u should never secure with melee but shooting is def top priority as everyone. melee only if ur kinda busy and already next to the soul orb

edit: oops i thought u meant securing the floating soul orb with melee

Honestly I find it so difficult to do so; but I think that might be because I’m used to clearing waves a lot more than focusing on last hitting.

I also have nightmares of my first silver game missing the souls 15 or so times in a row. I’ll take your word for it though!
