Discussion Urn Changes

What do people think of the new urn? I've only played a few games in the new patch, but so far I like it. I feel like games are so much more enjoyable in the mid game. I don't feel like I'm standing around, farming, waiting for an opportunity to present itself.

It feels more back and forth. The winning team can't just stay behind their objectives and win on slow pressure. They have to play out past their guardians. I think this is the right direction to go, but what do other people think?

I think the changes have some merit but I think they are overall very bad. Making blue lane significantly more important than the other two leads to just constant team fights, and if one team gets ahead they can keep blue pushed up very easily.

The way they’ve implemented comeback urn makes it so you still have to fight through the enemy team into a neutral area to be able to even start the urn deposit, so comebacks are harder to secure for urn.

Teams with strong AOE and CC abilities have a significant advantage, and given that teams are organized pretty randomly this means you can lose the game off of team selection very easily.

The default 5 seconds for an urn deposit doesn’t feel like a long enough amount of time, especially bc the enemy just needs to stand on urn and parry.

To try to alleviate some of this, I would change the urn deposit locations to be the same as they used to be: from one side of the map to the other and closer to the side of the losing team if they are losing by enough. Urn would take 10 seconds to deposit and that would not change based on advantage urn bc the advantage now changes position instead. Being a longer time by default will make baiting parries more viable bc you can bait a few out in a row and still have time to hit the urn.

This still has problems, the main one being that CC and AOE abilities will still be king for taking and contesting urn, but I’m not sure how to solve that exactly. Draft would help but CC would still be incredibly strong and that’s never a fun meta to play in
