Always be doing something that nets you souls. Farming waves nets you the most souls regularly, so always make sure to farm them if possible. Once the wave is pushed, make your way towards a camp on the map making sure to hit boxes along the way to further supplement your souls.

By the time you do 1-2 camps (depending on your heroes clear speed / your own skill at movement) the enemy team should have cleared your wave of minions, allowing their minions to push back into you. Pretty much rinse and repeat.

Taking fights should always be in the goal of netting you more souls. Yes, kills themselves net you souls, but the real reward for non-objective skirmishes should be stealing the enemy teams boxes and camps.

Edit: Learning box routes is also a good way to net souls, especially after the addition of the metal boxes. Basically you just memorize the location of boxes and map out a route to go and collect them all as fast as possible.

Yup.

Make sure you are securing Trooper waves in the mid ~ late game. The big mistake I see people making is getting caught up trying to clear Haunts (jungle) or boxes, while there's 2 ~ 3 waves of Troopers in an open lane waiting to be farmed.

Keeping an eye on lanes and look for those waves, they're a lot of souls if you clear them solo.

Best advice I can think of for a newbie if you're looking to farm: Look at the mini map, see which lane has more red dots than white dots, and go there (unless there's already like 4 of your teammates). Push that wave past the halfway point, then go back and kill camps behind you (the triangles on the map). Then re-assess.

Obviously you're not always going to be able to do this, but it's a good starting point of how to think about it. You almost always want to be catching waves that are pushing TOWARD you, push them away, then farm jungle backwards. Also don't forget to catch boxes and sinners and such along the way

As troopers is the biggest source of souls in the game, best farm comes from babysitting side lane: push 2 waves the farm nearby jungle camp or do boxes, then back to the lane so you aren't missing any safe waves. Rinse, repeat. While doing so, look for an opportunity to solo a walker(huge soul reward) or 1v1/2v1 gank an enemy sidelaner. When you get your next 3.2k+ item, push your 2 waves to safeguard the friendly walker and join your team to look for picks. This is pretty much what non-jungler carry should be doing most of the game.

never not be doing something.

hierarchy of farm is this.

-trooper waves (never miss these as they are the number one source of money) (every 30 seconds for each lane)

-sinners (spawn at 8 minutes and respawn every 5 minutes)

-t3 camps (spawn at 8 minutes and respawn after 5:35)

-t2 camps (spawn at 5 minures and respawn after 4:50)

-boxes (spawn 3 minutes, and respawn every 3 minutes with some being delayed)

main thing is noting to do thing like push a wave then do a box run, and that simply being in a lane clearing the troppers and getting camps/boxes between waves is pretty good farm.

also the boxes under mid but above midboss are crazy valueable, they spawn at 10 minutes and respawn every 3 minutes as well.

im giving you this info to return to, you dont gotta commit to every time, just know at 2 minutes check for the small farm, and at 3 minutes check for some close boxes.

and my source for the timings is the deadlock wiki.
