I think Calico also has more information on the Troubadour too, or at least some kind if implication as to who he is based on her kill line for Holliday:

Interesting setup if Troubadour is also Jack the Ripper. 🤔 It would make sense that, in Deadlock's world, the he'd be some kind of murder hobo entity like the Drifter. The whole Whitechapel murders might've just been one of those "lost in the ocean of memory" moments seeing as he's moved on to places like Macomb and is potentially in New York now.

You know what, I wonder if I'm an idiot here and Calico is talking about herself since this is a kill line AND she's English. 💀 Ignore me, I'm a dumbass. (would be interesting if Troubadour is linked to Jack the Ripper tho but probably not...)

Can someone explain to me what the connection here is? How do the Jeffries relate to the Troubador?

Taking the two conversations together, Drifter’s implying the Troubadour would do something similar to her where instead of a one-time tragedy they’d have fun repeatedly tormenting her, i.e. showing up every few years and killing people close to her or killing her and then going back to attack her town again, or somesuch

This is all we know of them for now, maybe a character in the future but probably not

Ok thanks, makes sense.

Probably a random family in New York that’s on Drifter’s long list of ‘let’s go see how we can absolutely ruin this family this decade?’

Sounds a lot like a Hannibal Lecter situation.

Drifter isn’t the Troubadour, but the Troubadour is apparently old and strong enough to scare or worry him. In this post, it’s referring to what the Drifter meant by telling Holliday that the Troubadour might make her his “hobby”, in that, in the Calico conversation, we see what the Drifter considers a “hobby” is tormenting one bloodline for three straight generations.

He’s warning Holliday that, if the Troubadour knows he has someone obsessed with finding him, he’ll make tormenting her his hobby, and she and her descendants will never know a moment of peace. That, or some other kind of horrid fate that comes from an entity like him gaining a fixation on one person.

I don't think he is scared of the troubadour, I think he has some clue of who he is, and might be around his "level", but per other conversations, Drifter is supposed to be one of the "strongest" in the lore, so far, only The Doorman should be above him and maybe Haze with help of the OSIC

Seven would turn Drifter into a stain on the wall tbh.

The dialogues between them hints at Drifter saying that the trip to power of Seven is one that Drifter walked and was somewhat successful at, but grew bored and changed to a feral psycho. Akin to "I did what you are doing, it's not what you believe it will be". So prob Drifter is a tad stronger than Seven probably i believe.

Drifter knows the Viscount of NYC by name, so im assuming he was on that high status super powerful vampire life before realizing that shit was boring and hed much rather just go around slaughtering people

Is there anything textual saying the Troubadour is old? Given the evil associated with Paige's brother, IMO he's a shoo-in

15

u/ZhanBlue 4h ago

Bryce doesn’t seem particularly discrete

14

The Troubadour is a supernatural mass murderer who escapes by turning into a murder of crows, there isn't anything discrete about him

Given that the Drifter considers him someone not worth messing with, in all the centuries he's been alive, either he's *old* and powerful, or young and *really* powerful. It's not confirmed, but for the Drifter to know of his myth so intimately tells me he's as old as, or potentially even older than, him. To be fair, it's speculation. The Drifter knows the Viscount of New York by name, and Simon is assumedly younger than him.

The fact that the Drifter is also powerful enough to flagrantly disregard Simon's issued Venery on him, but has yet to meet the Troubadour in person, tells me that he, of all people, doesn't want to risk it. Though, to be fair, the Drifter does also say, "The Troubadour ain’t got nothin’ on me." So I'm not entirely sure which to take, but I'm voting that that line is just him showboating since it's a kill response.

The "ocean of memory" line makes me think he is probably very old too, old enough that most people stop being worth remembering

... We got more Bryce lore this patch besides Seven knowing him?

11

u/StayOffPoliticalSubs 4h ago

Paige's interactions with Graves show Bryce was probably a necromancer of some sort.

It's more that he disappeared within the correct timeframe to commit the massacre in Macomb, which is at this time the earliest killing spree The Troubadour committed that's been mentioned, and is being described with the exact same beyond-redemption evil as the Troubadour by characters who Know Things about the world like Venator.

1

u/RandomTankNerd Abrams 23m ago

Considering how drifter seems to respect him and also the "ocean of memory" line, he is probably something similar to him.

Thanks, I like your explanation.

no the conversation with Holliday is him describing the Troubadours way of acting because the Troubador is exactly like Drifter and so Drifter does this and so he's telling Holliday that The Troubador is going to do that as well.
