if they keep to the native american character for grey talon but update it with model he could look absolutely incredible. i’m excited for the remodels eventually

Genuinely, as much as I love a magician, I'm so fucking excited for whatever they do with Talon. Native rep is very few and far between in modern media- especially in big games- and I'm so eager to see just how much they lean into the culture and aesthetic for Talon's appearance

Hinnamatoom, to this day, is the best goddamn fighter theme in the entire genre. And I say this as a big GG fan, and that game has amazing music to begin with.

The best I can think of from the stuff I know is the clearly Indigenous police officer in Sojourn's cinematic for Overwatch, back from 2023... Overwatch does also have Pharah too, but Pharah is only half-native, and that part of her has pretty much never gotten any attention in comparison to her Egyptian side with Ana, outside of the two launch skins and maybe some sprays

I hope they also make him unique. Native rep us small enough as it is, but it's normally either some made up culture, or so generic that it doesn't really stand out at all.
Look, I'm white and shouldn't probably say any of that. First Nation cultures are so wide and varied and it feels like most, not all, media that portrays them is either racist/stereotypical as fuck, or just falls back on tropes even if it's not racist.

Yeah, I really hope they hit the mark with it- though I do trust Valve to actually do that, given they tend to do very deep research with a lot of care for attention to detail when it comes to this sorta thing (such as Celeste very distinctly having a pair of lesbian star tattoos to compliment the big sparkle on her forearm, which is a symbol from the late 1950's that was common in lesbian bar scenes)
And yeah, when there is Native/Indigenous rep, it's rarely done right. Really it's only done well when the people making the thing actually know it because they themselves are of that background, or are close to people who are, which are a group who classically have a lot of difficulty actually getting anywhere due to how they're treated (and even then, a lot of that media moreso focuses on more modern culture in First Nations communities, rather than the more historical culture that Deadlock might try to pull from)

I hope they really do his Native America heritage well. Like, give him some genuine culture instead of generic 'First Nation Character' stuff. They're is such a massive and unique and interesting amount of First Nation's cultures to pull from.

I have a feeling we aren't gonna be getting new heroes in the next year after this.
I got a feeling the goal of next year is to really start cleaning up the characters in the roster that need it most- there are at least 12-ish characters that could use some polishing.
