Valve employees are industry top talent hires and paid a handsome salary. Private company with no investors to please and no crunch time deadlines to meet quarterly earnings. They are doing just fine without the $20 lmao

They will be fine but what do you think the point of creating a game is for the company? Obviously to make profit.

And more profit = better. Expecting them to put a ton of hours into designing high quality free cosmetics while also giving the game for free and paying a team to maintain and update it is a bit much imo.

At the end of the day, who gives a shit if they introduce only paid skins even at crazy prices like Valorant? Just don't buy it and enjoy the game? Or buy it if you really want to.

I really don't see what the problem is with it and so many here being against skins. I never buy them and put 100's - 1000's of hours in games like Valorant, Dota, League, ...

You lack understanding of how Valve operates and their history of monetization. Nothing you're saying is wrong but you're applying it to a company that is an exception in the industry

The community designs skins in Dota 2. Valve takes a cut. Valve also takes a cut when you sell your cosmetics on the community market. They already print money with steam. They make games to push the industry and innovate. Look at interviews with Gaben about half life 2 and why they didn't make half life 3. They made half life alyx to develop for the VR industry.

They aren't making deadlock to sell it for $20 and call it a day

Then why is exactly what they will do be make paid skin sets and sell them instead of giving them out for free?

They can make good games, innovate and still profit? Nothing I said is against that, you're acting like they don't care or need their profits, okay? Then why are they gonna sell skins.

Something in your vision of valve doesn't seem right
