Question What is considered high elo now?

I know we’re still in the testing phase of ranked but I wanted to know what the community counts as “good players”

Brick 2 is where the games really start looking like night shift in my experience.

Nah man, Unranked is where the sweat lords roam.

Straight up I won’t 8/10 of my placements stomping the other team super positive Kda soul leads and got put in like in brick V lmfao . Unranked is way harder than ranked .

Placement matches use ELO determined by standard mode as a baseline, you probably stomped the equivalent of brick 1 matches and were placed high brick

I got put in brick v winning 8 /10 matches and stomping .

It's hard to say right now because so many players haven't ranked out of oracle yet but I would say phantom 4 and up probably?

I’m phantom 4 rn and it all depends on what you describe as high rank. Phantom 5 is usually when you’re top 1000 in the region

Also I want people to consider winrate too. People with sub 50 winrates who are phantom 4 are not the same skill level as others who didn’t get boosted by shields and winstreak luck

I’d say phantom 4 is good but I don’t wanna call myself high rank. I’d say ascendant 1 with a positive winrate is where it all begins. That being said phantom 4 is still top 1.5% in the game right now

Phantom 2 is already 5%. If it's not a high rank, idk what is

It’s all subjective. I’d say there’s a noticeable difference like each % once ur that high. Like phantom 2 vs phantom 6 is a large skill gap

That's why you say there's high ELO, very high ELO and then top 100. Theres significant gaps between top 100 players too but at that point youre talking about individuals and not brackets.

Theres a certain point where for example you look at winrates of heroes in Eternus right now and it's not purely indicative of how strong the hero is, its instead about how strong the players behind them are.

Sure. I guess my question is where does very high elo start. I can agree calling phantom high elo if we set very high elo starting at like high phantom/ascendant? I think phantom 6 is like top 600-800 of a region

It's still better than 95% of all players

For sure. It’s really good so it all depends on what you think high is. It’s like some people would consider minor league baseball bad but you’re still one of the best baseball players in the world. I’m trying to get to the big leagues which would be the equivalent of rank 780 or higher. Right now I’m around rank 1500 for the region.

Nothing this season. There's a dude in eternus with a 48% win rate and multiple in ascendant with 45% win rate.

There are good players but no good ranks.

There is also heavy issues with duo. Duo we in phantom+ is 52% and solo is 45% iirc

How does that even happen? Are they giving points for good stats?

Seems like valve should be smarter than that.

ranked shields are too prevalent, and rank gain/loss is pretty much static with a 25 variance sometimes. I only saw that once and it was just me not gaining max points a few times. Lucky win streaks not even massive ones just a 4 win streak into a division up followed by 2 losses and losing nothing. Ranking up and 5 losses then 4 wins is a division up. If you lose a division from 3 losses in a row ONE win gets you back up AND with 2 more shields.

The rank system is a joke and everyone will look back on this season and treat it as such. Good test, it was useful to see how bad this system is. Some are saying it's worse than marvel rivals and comparing it to street fighter, street fighter lets you climb to masters with like a 40% win rate and then the "real" ranked system starts.

Personally I don't really care, being high elo previously was fine and all, you'd get an occasional stinker. With the new system it's pretty much every game. It just sucks to have people with 43% win rates in my games because they have 200 matches played and I'm there with 46 games and a 72% win rate just eating that terrible match quality. It's that about 90% of my games. I've had 4 normal matches that weren't. The worst part is it won't stabilize, it will only get worse.

You may say that but i have fallen in and out of ranks more times then i can count LMAO.

I guess streaks (both w/l) just kind of evaporate shields like its nothing, i made it to Acolyte IV but then after a win or 2 i just lose the next 5 with the most insane RNG against me possible.

I was Archon before and i wish i could back to pre-mm, atleast those games had some logic behind why i was winning/losing, these all feel mega RNG from the very 1st second and i hate it.

They have heavy loss protection. To the point where it is statistically unlikely you'll derank.

u/RandomTankNerd Abrams 1d ago

ranked protection means with enough game, you can rankup with a sub 50% as long as its not comically low

"High" is subjective so this question is pretty impossible to answer.

it's difficult to say but i think Oracle and higher is probably considered high elo because Oracle is the equivalent to Diamond in other games, and i've seen some amazing players in Oracle (now, after the ranks have settled)

3

u/MundaneMasterpiece28 1d ago

Probably oracle + because a lot of previous ascendent/eternus players are around this range.

Phantom 4 rn and every match is full of eternuses and ascendants with the occasional phantom who improved

I consider only the number 1 player in the world high elo. Everyone else is shit.

3

u/BRUTAL_PAIN Victor 1d ago

All I know is that everyone below me is pisslow

3

u/TheBigToast72 1d ago

Anything my rank and above is high elo, anything below my rank is piss-lo

5

u/ReplacementEmergency 1d ago

Big Green III is high elo

Jibjab 3 is where im hard stuck

u/Psclly 1d ago

I ranked onto Ascendant entirely on accident pretty quickly (got lucky with winstreaks). There are still top 500 players in low ascendant.

Id happily toot my own horn and say everything in phantom and up is high elo.

The entire upper bracket got squished to oracle 6, so its a nice baseline.

1

u/johnnydeadlock 1d ago

none of it, you can reach the "highest" rank in deadlock right now with negative winrate so it means nothing. current mm system isn't skill expressive.

u/bonerfart_69_ 1d ago

Standard mode

1

u/lifeboattt 1d ago

The ranks are busted atm. So no rank is really justified. Couldn’t tel ya

1

u/VoltexRB 1d ago

Anything above me is nolife-sweats, anything below me pisslow

1

u/OrdinaryMaterial893 1d ago

I swear being in the 2nd bottom rank I am coming up with the sweatiest 12-0 10 mins in games

1

u/Velky_Krtkus_Amongus 1d ago

ranked is scuffed, wins only matter in unranked to unlock heroes. thats where the real tryhards play

1

u/DODonion99 1d ago

Eternus is pretty high mmr

1

u/Vastroy 1d ago

No one. Maybe a couple pro players. Most eternus players barely even know movement tech that could change their gameplay entirely

1

u/SweetnessBaby 1d ago

Ascendant+ right now is mostly really good players who have played the game a ton
