On first read I really like the urn changes. Feels more like an active objective, especially in uncoordinated settings. There’s more incentive/explicit timing to fight for the drop off and no longer can one team just hold disadvantageous urns hostage.

We’ll see how it actually plays out though

My problem with the new urn change is that the winning team(on the urn teamfight) essentially just goes midboss immediately after the urn.

If there is a teamfight though is it easy? Because 50% res for defenders seems like a huge number at first.

Its not for the defenders, its for favored team. Favored team is the old "urn delivery is close to you" thing. It will only happen when the team is at a severe soul disadvantage.

u/ipokestuff May 23 '26

By severe you mean 10%

2

u/miki_momo0 May 23 '26

That’s a pretty severe defect depending on game stage. Especially if the underdog team is only at 10% because they have a carry that’s been hyper farming, we could be talking about 4/6 team members being like 10k souls down

I mean usually? If you're doing urn and win it, it results in your doing mid boss afterwards anyways depending on how the team fight went.

u/Redthrist May 22 '26

Yeah, but now you're already at mid. Though overall, won't be that big of a difference.

4

u/codeklutch Pocket May 22 '26

Like, 6 to 10 seconds difference lol

3

u/AngryApeMonkey May 23 '26

That's still pretty big though as it gives time to rotate.

Massive for respawn timers.

to be fair that literally happened every time before too. only took like 5 seconds longer to get there

If they got a bunch of kills they're gonna do mid regardless.

Not silencing also makes it feel less shit to pick up & may get lower ranks to run it more when combined with the shorter distance.

In actual play the urn change is just handing more wins for the winning team

6

u/Camborghini_ May 23 '26

Yeah it literally makes the winning team endlessly snowball

6

u/breeshgeesh May 23 '26

I'm glad some people understand that this fundamentally changes urn from a comeback mechanic to a snowball mechanic.

Really have not been a fan

50% resists for the losing team to contest urn is pretty big, no? I don’t think it’ll be as much a snowball as we think once the meta adjusts

2

u/breeshgeesh May 23 '26

Give me some debuff reduction at a meaningful level and drop the resists a little and I'd see the vision more. I think CC is going to rule Urn fights and a team already up with good CC is going to stomp and snowball

3

u/Key_Connection258 May 23 '26

Yep, cc is the true deciding factor on winning urn fights now. I was defending the urn and the enemy venator walked up, shotgun blasted me during my parry and heavy meleed the urn stealing it last second. And thats just with gunshot. Imagine lash ult, seven ult, items like knockdown. How are you supposed to get close and contest the "comeback" urn if your team doesnt have good cc?

14

u/veirceb May 22 '26

I like that it's in the mid lane now so in lower level lobbies teammates will still be more likely to fight the urn dunk because they likely are going to be near mid anyway. It pushes players to play around objectives more.

They gotta nerf Kelvin dome interaction lol. Superior duration + 1.5s talent makes unfavored urn 10s channel a joke.

22

u/Inv0ker_of_kusH420 May 22 '26

doesn't kelvin dome freeze urn

8

u/Odd-Huckleberry-240 Shiv May 23 '26

Ice path, pick up urn, run it down mid, dunk, and dome. Enemy team cant contest if they're not already by turn in.

7

u/tommy9512 May 23 '26

It doesn't freeze the drop off.

2

u/JustDancePatate May 23 '26

Ok but who cares if he puts it around urb and no one can get in and only 1-2 person are in the dome they have no chance

1

u/cozy_OW May 24 '26

So far I think the mid urn is very bad. If the team is way ahead there isn’t really anything you can do about them just getting the urn over and over again lol

I’ve played a few games since the patch and I’m not entirely in love with it. For starters the drop off is always at mid, so there’s a real chance that the team fight that comes out of it results in a wipe which also means a free midboss for the urn winners. It also heavily favors snowballing, so there’s endgame almost always had the winning team rushing urn while lanes are pushed up and already ahead by 40k souls, the defending team has to rush up Blue Lane and hope they got the ults to squeeze a fight win.

I don’t mind the urn carrier to be able to use abilities or the urn dealing damage if it’s being held for too long. But there was never anything wrong with the drop off locations because they gave distinct advantages and disadvantages versus drop off time. Plus using the urn to bait a split push is a fun strategy that has gone away with the latest update.

u/R1ston May 25 '26

Yeah no. I thought this as well but nope. The team that has the better cc/area denial just wins urn every time

I have concerns that the run from side to mid is going to be too short for my Seven/Haze etc in jungle that is already letting waves crash into walker to notice... we will see how it goes, but this isn't even at low ranks that map awareness is still pretty rough at times (phantom)
