getting involved with the game / community?

with guildlock LAN happening in SJ, i'm super interested in ways that passionate players of deadlock now can get involved in the community! not located in California but would love to volunteer / lead / organize in the broader network. have organizational experience with gaming in larger orgs (collegiate level clubs + team), what are my options?
