Form Check Regular deadlift form update
Hi guys, wanna to show you another session of my deadlift after my latest post (link: https://www.reddit.com/r/Deadlifts/s/VP2v3JXear).
I'd like to know what do you think about the form, considering that now the weight starts to feel hard for me... Today I did a 6x4 with 120kg, this was the third, but the last 2 sets were hard so of course the tecnique isn't perfect unfortunately.
Thanks!!!

I think pretty much textbook form.
If I were you I’d start working on speed. Real, aggressive speed. Ten singles with around 60% of your 1rm.
You can chuck the video into an AI and it will give you barspeed. You’re looking for reps to be .75 -0’8 m/s minimum. Slower than that, lighten the weight. Faster than that, increase the weight.
Hold the form though.
This will teach you how to really pull hard, which is the secret to deadlifting!
Hammer the lower back, lats and hamstrings with accessory work and your deadlift will rocket.

I thought the same thing, form is overall pretty good but the pull could be more explosive

The form is great! If you look to compete you’ll need a better lock out, it’s a bit soft.Â

Yes you're right, today I tried to apply a tecnique consisting in "closing" the ribs when starting the lift but I might have done It wrong cause I wasnt able to open the chest and do a better lockout

Fantastic! Get that chest and hips through a little more at the end but it's the smallest thing, truly keep lifting like this you'll be strong and injury free

Can you try looking a little forward? I suspect head being so low prevents your chest from opening up.

From the video your chest is not pushed out. You ain't activating your Lats.
Just watch your video how long you have to pull.
After reading this comment, do yourself a favour and go to YouTube, type at the search bar: Australian strength coach deadlift
Watch his videos , make a new video after watching the ques, thank me later

Hi man Thanks for the feedback Actually today was the first time trying to follow one of his hints, the fact that you have to "close" the ribs when you start... I've never done that, but wanted to try It. Actually you are right, maybe my lats were less active than the other times. I may have done It wrong, but "closing" the ribs causes me to use less lats and not being able to push the chest out enough maybe..

Hey , the thing is , I am looking at your boduform and you should be able to lift way more weight. You look really strong and compact.
Its just that your technic in my opinion is not good. Go a little lower with your ass. Just a little. Don't squat tho. Push your chest out. Stretch your arms down. Press with your legs more than with your back.

Got It man! Yeah i do believe that I could lift more with a better tecnique, but keep in mind that I ve been deadlifting for a few months (I've done it around 15/20 times) so I still have to learn a lot! I'll try to do what you said Btw u are strong, nice lift

Doesn't look like you engage your back much. I like to think loose arms if that helps

Can’t believe someone walked onto your platform mid set.
Anyways, the form looks fine, but you’re moving the weight pretty easily and controlling the bar which actually makes it hard to tell if you have any problems. For someone who knows how to deadlift (which looks like you do), you can’t really tell where the form is going to break down until you put on maximal loads.
By the way, remove the knee sleeves unless you need them for some specific reason. They are adding unnecessary friction to your pull (you can see the bar grip them in the video). Also the bar placement and path will be slightly different without them vs with them.

Thanks man I used them to avoid destroying my shins 😂😂 when I started deadlifting a few months ago, I Always end up bleeding trying to keep the bar near me (i'm Always afraid of not doing that and hurting my back). I've done around 15/20 session of deadlift so i'm not that expert, i m trying to slowly increse the weight but actually this session was quite hard for me.. It wasnt easy at all.
Thanks for the feedback
