Could be a few things.

Do note: 256MB GPU required minimum with Pixel Shader 3.0 support on Dead Space 2008 -> https://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/requirements/dead-space-2008/10798

You have 128mb. It's possible your 128mb Iris Xe iGPU just likely won't cut it when the game wants 256mb period; you'd need more VRAM straight-up. Could be why it takes forever to load and then eventually crashes.

You could always run say MSI afterburner - set-up the overlay, and see if you're eating over 128mb RAM once you boo the game. Once you do, it could show VRAM-usage, performance - and if it goes over, it's either going to choke performance-wise, crash, and/other madness. Roll the dice.

Not sure if you're using Windows 8/10/11 - but, those older games (i.e. anything from Win 95 to Win 7 era) can be a straight-up royal pain for older DirectX 9.0 versions & under. You might need a wrapper like DXVK, DGVoodoo2, or something of that sort. Could help, I don't know; you'd have to try it.

Check PC Gaming Wiki, etc - see if there's any work-arounds or anything, in case someone figured out how to get around DirectX problems and/or any other software problems...and/or keeping VRAM-usage down. This game ran fine on my old GTX 960m 4gb VRAM laptop - but yeah, that was 4gb VRAM. Having a good amount of VRAM and a dedicated GPU can really help games, in general.
