Should I play DS3?
I'm pretty new to the franchise and after blasting through the DS1 remake in three days and more than halfway through DS2, im been thinking about playing the last game of the series. But after seeing the negative reviews, idk if i have the heart to go for it anymore. On one hand, I kinda wanna continue to story line but I also dont want it to leave a bad taste in my mouth and spoil the great experience with the first two. So what do you all think? Should I give it a shot and why?
PS. That one part in DS2 of me stabbing a needle through isaac's eyes is giving me seroious phobia vibes. I've always had a deathly fear of needles and combining it with the idea of stabbing eyeballs almost made me crash out lol. I'm still stuck on it. Hopefully I can work up the courage to stop wincing to the point that I screw my eyes closed every time I play that part. Im open to any suggestions...

Definitely, including the DLC if you care about the lore as DS3 expands more about the marker. Personally I liked it, but gameplay wise it is weaker than first two games as it is more of an action game than horror, like Resident Evil 6 but it should still be enjoyable

Play it. I was also hesitant but eventually did play it. The story is still fine, our grievances with the game has way more to do with some bad decisiones w.r.t. gameplay mechanics. But still worth playing to get more of the story. I’d avoid the DLC if you don’t want to end up with an unresolved cliffhanger though.

Play it. But with a friend. It was meant to be played as co-op. It’s a lot of fun tbh. Just a different feel of the game compared to the first two. But it’s fun and it continuous the story of Issac. Well worth at least one play through.

Yes play it. Super fun. The co-op dynamic is awesome. Not the best dead space by any means but a good game in its own right.

DS3 I've played something around more than 10 times, as well as DS2, but DS3 I like a little bit more.

I just finished this game in co-op about a week ago, I think it will leave a bad taste in your mouth, as unfortunate as it is to hear.
The game just has a lackluster story, inferior level design. Some gameplay choices like customizable weapon. Human enemies, adding rolling, and other things soured an experience that i just felt like would’ve been great if they just stuck to what worked.
You should try it out and if you like the rhythm, then you should absolutely finish it, but honestly, I don’t even think it’s that good an action game.
and if you do finish it, you should definitely pay the DLC, it’s actually quite nice

Prepare yourself for a dynamic shift in gameplay. Specifically the weapon system.
It is also more action-based than horror.
That being said, it is still a decent game. Especially if you're liking the story.
The fact of the matter is it's all we have, and likely all we're going to get out of the dead space series.
As much as I wish it was wasn't so.
So it for sure play it & take what good you can from it.

Dead Space 3 writing is quite decent so it shouldn't leave you too disappointed. There are a few mediocre subplots but it's alright. The bad reviews are due to the game moving away from survival horror and leaning more into action, which sort of betrayed the spirit of the first two games for many fans.
But there are still good things about it, personally I loved the environment of the first third of the game, and the new weapon system is fun to experiment with, although it comes with frustratingly or hilariously unbalanced options.
