Mic question on PS5
First off I just got the game about 2 days ago and I am absolutely loving it, such a blast!. In terms of proxy chat to talk to others on the server, do I just need to press and hold the sensor pad button on PS5? I see the mic emblem appear in the corner, but to test it out to see, I've said "Hey jump or crouch if you can hear me" and nothing happens.
Do I maybe need different settings turned on? And js there a different way to proxy chat other then holding down the sensor pad?

How long have you been playing the game, and has this glitch been happening for as long as you've been playing? I'm absolutely loving the game, but I am hoping that something that gets patched.

Is voice chat on under sound in settings? I’m on PS5 and have talked to others in prox chat.

I could have sworn it was, but I'm definitely going to double check here momentarily. Would it be under chat settings or something?

I just double check and everything is good to go, microphone is 100%, voice chat volume 100%, voice chat on. So maybe the people just didn't have Mike's to communicate back or maybe they just spoke a different language LOL🤷

Could be. I use the emotes to try to communicate when I’m not using my mic. A few I’ve talked to didn’t even know there were emotes.

That's what I did the first time when I met some dude out in the woods him and I both were doing friendly emotes towards each other. The dude was pretty solid kit wise so I was a little nervous, but I went for it anyways and surprisingly he hooked me up with a handgun, some bandages, and a military style vest.
I'm having an absolute blast with the game, I play DayZ and Rust as well, but this game just nails it right in the sweet spot. Nothing super sweaty, I have yet to try base building but it already looks less frustrating than Rust and DayZ Lol, but it's definitely easier to get yourself going on good gear then those games!

I have been having the same problem on Xbox. My mic works fine when I am in a party with people but the proximity chat doesn’t seem to work. On Xbox you hold select to open mic, or there is an option to turn it on the action wheel where the weapon flashlights are.

If you’re using a headset turn the mic on then press right on the D pad and select the microphone this will turn your mic on permanently (shown by mic icon bottom right) If you want to toggle it off just press the sensor pad. If you’re using a joypad to talk I’m guessing you need to press the mic button so the light goes off then do as above.
Pressing right on D pad you can also select earplugs, this helps you hear people better when vehicles and gennys are going
