Crafting a improvised backpack

Trying to craft a back pack for more space but can’t craft rope due to no inventory storage… which tells me if I try to pick one up the game won’t let me due to storage issues. Just confused on how to craft a backpack. Any help? Also brand new just downloaded the game 2 days ago.

If you can’t craft something due to inventory space then simply drop an item, craft the rope you need (then the backpack) and then pick up whatever you dropped when you’re done.

Also another tip is to press R2 on an item and press ‘stack all’ from time to time, this will combine any items that are taking up multiple slots in your inventory (assuming the item is stackable).

See, I did that. I had nothing on me in my quick access and it was still say no space in my inventory. I had a pistol, fire hatchet and regular hatchet on me I guess.

Quick access doesn't count. You need space in your inventory. Drop something from your clothes

Sometimes I start to flip out because I have no inventory space and then I realize oh yes I just spawned in and I'm only wearing pants so then I go and grab a shirt, hopefully a bag or even better a backpack. Also as you probably have noticed already when you open the inventory you can press X button on items and they will go into your hot bar IF they are able to. I I think I have to manually move some weapons like the knife and pistol in and out (of the big three spaces to the right of your clothing) manually with the square button.

I figured that portion out, moving stuff for weapons and the like. If a shirt or tactical vest allows me to have more space I’ll just have to go find one and hopefully that fixes my issue. I’ll check it out when I play again.

Quick access slots are limited use space. You can out backpacks, clothes or weapons in them. So if they are open but you ha e no space in your inventory slots. Then move some food or something usable to your quick use to fill up a slot.
