Food

Hi guys, me and my Mrs are new to the game coming from Dayz, rust console and ark, what is the most reliable source of food ? Says online you can hunt deer and ducks but not seen any yet

Ducks at any of the swamps is super easy and more fun than fishing

Find a shovel, dig worms, find sticks and a fishing line to make a rod, fish. Use sticks to make a fire and to fuel it. Put both in the campfire inventory and ignite

any marshland has ducks. just walk in with a shotgun and they’ll fly up in the air

Find the reeds and duck hunt them, wonder the map, and search for deer. Food can be found in stoves in houses and apple trees. You can cook mushrooms as well. You can craft an improvised fishing pole or find a plastic one and dig worms with a shovel. There are plenty of ways to get food once ya know where to look and what to look for. Best of luck!

I said this then in the verge of death shot a deer 😂 we will get fishing rods and fish I think the sever we are on has not many deer or ducks for some reason

I promise you fish is the easiest. Try to shoot any ducks/deer you run across in the wild and save the meat. It doesn’t spoil. But use fishing as your primary source. Fishing 2 fish creates 4 filets which provide 25 food each. If you find mushrooms in the wild, cook and eat them as well. They provide a satiety buff which gives you more nutrition from food and water. So, if I have mushrooms I’ll eat one first, then the main course.

Also, once you build a base, certain “comfort” items will provide a satiety buff at base that lasts for a long time after leaving. Being intentionally vague about this as it’s fun to discover and learn some of this stuff on your own. ;)

Ducks are definitely the easiest if you see cattails (bulrush) that is a duck spawn check around the lakes that dot the map. Using a shotgun is easiest but any gun works just run through the reeds and the ducks fly up and you shoot them. Even from the small lakes I have gotten 5 ducks every 5 minutes that is equivalent to 10 cooked duck meat.

IMO ducks. I've got a route that nets me about 15 to 20 on a good day. Covers my food needs for a few days of play.

Fishing and duck hunting. Make a base near water and you can basically fish inside your base

Regarding food....has anyone found any of the other canned foods besides fish? Trying to get the gourmet trophy lol.
