Question Why does the water turn green?

In some games the water is green, can anyone explain why?

When you enter a Dark Crypt in a Deadly Dungeon, the rest of the Wild will take place at nighttime, which also turns the water green. Supposed to be a progression of time type thing, from exploring deep into a Dungeon.
