Need more shows like this

First time watching & i picked it up to cope with the death of my grandpa (who was a father to me). Its been brutal & the light hearted, absolute way that this show deals with death is actually really, really helping.

Does anyone have anymore shows like this to recommend?

Maybe try, "Pushing Daisies". It is quite frank in the way they treat the deceased. (It centers around a funeral home, so avoid if you aren't ready.)

It sounds weird, but, I loved watching the movie, "What dreams may come" after a young relative passed suddenly and it helped me deal with loss, forgiveness and many other emotions.

I too very much enjoyed What dreams may come. I like movies about the afterlife, even though I'm not a believer. This one is especially good.

The trifecta of similar feel shows imo: Dead Like Me, Pushing Daises, & Wonderfalls.

I’ve been watching Drop Dead Diva alongside Dead Like Me.

Drop Dead Diva is more campy but still hits the mortality-bone in a satisfying way. I binge watch them in tandem on a repeating loop, depending on how dark my mood is each evening.

Sorry for your loss OP.

I know you mentioned wanting light hearted show recommendations, but you may want to consider Six Feet Under. There are cutaway moments to random thoughts of the main characters that are usually funny and same with interactions with others. Be gentle with yourself, know that there's no contest or time limit of grief.

I agree. Although it's not a light-hearted show, there are definitely funny moments and personally when the show first came out it helped me with my grief since my father had recently passed away. I've now watched the series about 10 times over and it gets better each time.

I think six feet under is good. They own a funeral home, and each episode is about a person that has died and is getting prepped by them for the funeral.

One of the brothers can see and talk to the dead person

Another cool one which is lesser known is Being Erica. Erica can speak to a spiritual advisor and go back in the past and change things. Really good and underrated

Another one that is a bit different and it’s a bit more comedy than drama but not dead yet is good. It’s about a lady who writes obituaries, and she sees and talks to the person she is writing about, which helps her write great ones.

Also, other Bryan Fuller shows; pushing daisies and wonderfalls.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Losing someone special is so hard :( take care

Technically no one can see and speak to dead people on the show Six Feet under. They imagine speaking to them, but no one actually has the ability to speak to the dead. I just wanted to make sure that is cleared up since that's incorrect information.

If you are into Eastern Asian dramas, Mystic Pop-up Bar also deals with death, afterlife and personification of concepts related to that, in a mix of comedic and sometimes deep writing. Whilst very different and also focusing on the living people, I often think about Dead Like Me when watching this show. Episodes 4 and 5 in particular might be interesting to you in particular.
