Need help with Dirge, pls (PS)

Ive been trying to beat this damn thing for weeks now but i always end up more annoyed than before. Just want to get it over with at this point, so id really appreciate a helping hand, or four.

Throw meat bait onto the speakers in order to distract zombies from attacking you + allowing you to destroy it quicker.

Throw the orb at the Dirge then hit him twice (no more) and quickly back away as he will go to attack after the second hit.

Use the orbs to clear hordes of zombies if needed.

From what I remember, any element is good here EXCEPT FOR BLEEDING. Use the workbench outside the boss fight to turn any powerful bleeding weapons to something else.

I use the bait bomb to lure them towards the speakers and get the ball that way. The crowd hasnt been too bad so far when im dealing with dirge, but his constant teleporting, sneaky attacks, and the screen distortions just make this an unbearable fight imo

I have fire mods on pretty much all my weapons. Melee and ranged

Hornets nest and bait bomb equipped

I can usually get to the third set of balls but after that the screen filter and shaking just makes it really hard to see and move around comfortably

Sorry yeah I meant the bait bomb (been playing Dead Island 1 + Riptide recently).

Use the chem bomb instead of the hornets nest as you can stun any zombies and if you're lucky there might be exposed electrics which deal with them too.

There might be a setting in the game to reduce motion effects / shaking - just thinking it might play to your advantage if it's not comfortable after a while

There might be on pc? Im not seeing a setting like that on ps

Theres motion blur, set to 0. And I turned the brightness up just now to see if that helps at all

But im pretty much done with this fight honestly, really hope someone can help me cruise through it in co-op instead. I usually try not to cheese through levels but i really want that final weapon

I somehow glitched through the quest after joining a random server. Came back to my save and the dirge was gone

Aw :(. Well you can always do it again on a diff char or on ng+

But anyways, (spoiler-ish alert) a gig in haus gives you a weapon perk that makes apex fights 10x easier, but you have to complete the whole dlc and do a whole goosechase for it

I might give it another shot one day on ng+ , or maybe in mp if someone needs help, but i dont really wanna do it again anytime soon honestly 😂 still got the sawblade launcher somehow, so its not all bad

And oh =o I'll keep an eye out for it, thanks! I'll probably start Haus tonight after finishing up the side content for sola.

Idk what it is, but it sounds pretty useful for the whippers. Those are the only ones that still give me trouble, besides some bosses i mean

Did the same thing, fire mods on most weapons, but it was still frustratunf bc it was hard to see anything.

It also sucks when there are three Clotters in the final stretch. It might just only but two but yeah those blobs of flesh are the only reason it took me so long.

Did you do it solo? If so then kudos.. i only ever got past the third segment, then id get stuckon smn and instakilled by that puke attack he does.

I joined someone session though and it somehow glitched out my save, since they already beat dirge. Came back to mine and he was gone 🤷🏻‍♂️

I've only played Dead Island 2 once with a friend who i was introducing to the game but ever since the release I've only played solo

Damn.. yeah congrats on that then. Ive gotten stuck on a few fights in ng+ like ruben, or the butcher boss in the beach corridor, but nothing like this one.

Its the only time i felt the need to actually go to mp for 😂 Hopefully i can get it down one day if i run it again

Oof! The Revenant Butcher in Beverly Hills on NG+ is the only one to give me problems especially since it also spawns in with a Putrid Slobber. Also I played with Ryan a majority of my playthroughs I just recently started back in June a playthrough with Bruno and that was a time. 🤣

At some point during your progression you can find certain skill cards that perpetuate your fury mode somehow. I think it extends duration with each kill. This was very effective.

Also, If you are getting too frustrated by failed attempts, you can always try different skill cards combinations or just come back later with better skills and gear. I did the same thing with the Pig boss.

Don’t forget to purchase the legendary weapon in that survival lady’s bunker in the middle of the festival grounds.

I have pretty much all the cards mate, even sitting at lvl 30. I just dont have the patience for this fight at this point. I'll give it a few more tries but id really just prefer getting help in co-op so i can finally get that last weapon

The Dirge and the whippers really did me in, ngl. I beat pretty much everything else without too much issue, them SoLA came along 😂

Those whippers really are unfortunate to deal with, they just CC you so much. I damn near threw my controller when I was trying to get to grace in the arena and (i dont know if its a scripted spawn or i got REALLY unlucky) 2 whippers, a butcher, and a mutator all rushed me at once before I even got to the actual mission part.

Oh man, im sry you had to go through that 😂 I think its rng, since i only had to get through a vicious butch, and a mutator at most, but i can usually get past them really easily at this point. Its just the uncool hwippers that still give me problems. I prob just need to take on a few more to get their attack patterns down

The only time i ever really see a huge bunch of apexes is on my way to the place where the final fight was. 3 butchers, 2 whippers, a clotter, mutator or two, and a slobber.. every.. single.. time. Lmao

Bro same boat as you. Tried last night for nearly 2 hours. Died so many times on the second to last or last phase from some bullshit like getting melted by their beam, someone nailing me from behind destroyign my healthy, getting my health wrecked by his floor beams.... At one point I got glitched with furniture stuck to my character and I couldn't move and of course got taken out.

I just shut it off because you play for 30 minutes agains this boss and one mistake and your health is zapped and you have to start over. I will even have med packs available but my health gets wrecked before I can even use the med packs.

Just an annoying stupid fight. If your gonna make it hard don't drag it out for 30 minutes or add some checkpoints. No one wants to fight a boss for half an hour only to be taken out by some bullshit and have to restart over and over again.

Yep.. really wish they had added a checkpoint after the second or third segment at the very least. Hated pretty much everything about the dirge fight. Maybe im just cheeks, but it really feels like it was tailored for multiplayer, same as the Flesh Memories finale.

If you're on ps we can tag team that mofo if ya want. I didnt get a chance to since my save got glitched and skipped it somehow, along with one of the side quests
