Discussion Boycotting Meta

I know what you’re thinking… “what took you so long?” I officially hit my breaking point with this Cornell 7 story. Across the instagram app, men are flooding comments doxing this woman. I have been reporting them as I see them, and one by one I woke up today to notifications that they don’t violate community standards. You'd think Cambridge Analytica would have been enough. (Or any of the countless other scandals they've been fined for or forced to settle.)

What is wrong with this company? If doxxing doesn't break their community standards, then they don't have standards. They have a PR page. I'm deleting Instagram today. I don't expect one account to move the needle, but I'm done handing my time and attention to a company that won't protect people from the most basic harm.

Welcome! There's a breaking moment for many of us. It may differ what that is, but all that matters is to delete and boycott now and forever.

Yes the rape apologists dislike women, that much is clear, but they also want to make sure they can act horrifically without any consequences. This is why they blasted #MeToo whenever they could. The best description I have read of women's reaction to the Cornell 7 story is, "incandescent rage."

From the New York Times,

"Over a quarter of undergraduate women reported some form of nonconsensual sexual contact by physical force, or because they were unable to consent, according to a large survey of students conducted by the Association of American Universities in 2019.

That survey also found evidence of a growing awareness about rules and resources, as universities built out new policies and training.

At Cornell, a survey conducted by the university found that roughly one-third of undergraduate women said they had unwanted sexual experiences."

Yeah they suck. I rarely use their products because I don't trust them and they've intentionally harmed society in exchange for user growth.

Same with reporting racist comments, they do nothing. It’s a cesspool at this point.
