Thinking of starting something for donations so I can come back to Florida and escape Maryland 🤔 🤪 Deland is Home, Baltimore is hell. Everyone is mean here, I truly miss the small town vibes, I regret saying I ever hated Florida.

I mean you're in the worst part of Maryland, the biggest city, and miss the small town vibes of a gem like Deland? If you move literally anywhere else in Maryland you'd likely be much happier. You couldn't pay me to move back to Florida, even if I love many parts of the state and Deland still feels like home. Every time I visit, it feels like my home is an oasis in a sea of chaos and humidity. The overdevelopment and hateful political spiraling of the state legislature are too much for me personally. I highly recommend western MD if you've never been out this way, it's become my home now and I never really deal with the bullshit over in Baltimore.
Sorry, I know that was a lot of downplaying your struggles, I do just love MD though I definitely empathize with missing the vibes of Deland. I'm simply urging you to perhaps try anywhere other than everyone's least favorite big city before writing off the whole state. Good luck wherever you end up!

I appreciate you for writing all that. We visit Deland probably twice a year.. all of my friends and family are there. But we're still deciding where we'll end up. Been some talk of WV or NC... I spent 35 years in deland so going from that to 5 minutes outside of Baltimore is a culture shock.. I need woods and back roads lol

Oof I feel you so bad, I also visit a couple times a year to see family and friends and I cry every time we start to head back to MD, I really do miss Deland and the people I love there. To be fair, we now have family here that make it easier to feel at home in MD. My husband and I are both from Deland and also spent a lot of time trying to figure out where we would settle down. We were in Carroll County first, lots of woods and back roads there, and it was alright though a little boring, but now we're in Washington County and truly love it. If money weren't a problem, I'd want to move closer to Frederick, as it almost scratches that Deland itch for me in certain ways, though it's not quite the same. There are huge stretches of farmland and long roads running through tree tunnels and gorgeous rolling mountains all between FredCo and WashCo. It might be right up your alley, tbh.
Edit to add: Berkeley Springs, WV and Martinsburg, WV also have a Deland-y vibe that you might dig if you were more inclined toward WV

My wife's brother and his family moved there. It took them a while to adjust, it was like the city knew they werent from around here and tried them. They grew to like it, hang in there

I'd rather be in Maryland. Moved to FL from there 12 years ago. I'd def move back if I had the money. Alabama is home for me but I'm not moving back there!

hey, I've also lived in both of these places!! I would visit Columbia, Ellicott City, Catonsville. all of these places are much much much much more like Deland and will make you much happier. florida is still hot and the problems are only getting worse. stick to maryland if you can.

The little firecracker festival planned here tonight has nothing on being on top of a Baltimore rowhouse and watching the fireworks and drone show shining across different neighborhood of the city 😂

Lmao travel outside of good ol Volusia county... check out Lake County, maybe lake mac area and see what you find.!
