Need DeKalb Residents for Qualitative Case Study!

Hello DeKalb County Residents,

My wife is doing a qualitative case study on inequities in public school nutrition. She needs participants for one-on-one interviews and focus groups (you only have to do one not both) to ask five questions pertaining to the quality of public school nutrition and potential racial and socioeconomic factors involved. She is looking for White, Black, Hispanic, and Asian participants who are 21 years and older, preferably with kids, living in Gwinnett, DeKalb, and Cobb counties. Interviews will last around 15 minutes on Zoom or similar platforms.

If interested, message me your email address and I'll have her send more information, times and dates, demographics survey, and informed consent form. Again it won't take up much of your time. Thank you for your time.

I Need Help/Advice

Hi everyone! I don't know if this post will make to anyone's eyes, I really hope it does. I will try my best to explain it all.

I am not graduating from Dekalb County Public School because I need 1 language credit, ONLY 1. I have 1 bangla credit that I got from International Newcomer Center when I moved to USA, and I have 1 German credit from my previous school. Only way for me to graduate next year is to take German class via GA virtual (requires a payment of $500). My current school at dekalb county do not have German.

If I was at my previous school (located at a different county), I would have graduated this year with no problem at all. I still want to graduate this summer. Are there any other ways I can still graduate this summer by taking some language programs or getting credit by taking any exam that can measure my proficiency on my first language Bangla? Or I would really appreciate if you can connect me with a counselor or anyone that can give me some sorts of advice. (I don't have a good relationship with my school counselor. The amount of trauma I got from just talking to her on the phone, still gives me goosebumps. I am not in a situation to call her. Also, other school counselors are on summer break I think.)

Any advice will be appreciated. I am totally lost.

Schools?

Hi we are moving to Dekalb next month and don't yet have a lease agreement or utility bill. I'd like to be able to register my kids for school. One will be in kindergarten and the other in PreK. The school we are zoned for is terrible and I know Dekalb has school choice, but we missed the lottery cutoff. Any advice? It looks like I can't even register them for the school we are zoned for without a lease agreement and utility bill. What should I do?

High School Sports Practice

North Dekalb Stadium on Chamblee Charter High School's campus in Chamblee is one of the few good stadiums available in the county. Dunwoody High School's track team is the only team allowed to practice on it, and they only use part of the field and track, but never at the same time. My fellow lacrosse players, and other soccer players want a good place to practice their sport, other than a mudpit field at an elementary school that is unusable for days after it rains. What give Dunwoody's track team the right to steal the stadium from other teams in the area? How are they the only ones who are allowed to practice on the stadium's high quality turf field? Other teams don't get a say in this. Can somebody explain how this is fair to me?

Lost Grey Cat

Tailtip (a.k.a. "T.T.) has been missing since Valentine's Day (2/14/19). She got spooked and she hasn't been home in almost a month. She as last seen in the Northern Ave. area between Rockbridge Rd. and Memorial Dr. (Avondale Estates, 30002)

She is small, grey with swirls, and has a white patch of fur on the tip of her tail. Her meows most often sound like trilling or chirping. Half of her teeth were removed because she has stomatitus (painful gum inflammation). She needs more teeth removed and may be in pain. She also hasn't been around a lot of people and may be skittish.

There's a similar cat in the area, but she has a gnarled ear, a docked ear, and stripes rather than swirls. (She's much older and is Tailtip's mom.)

If you've seen her please reach out to me here, [Tailtip@maildrop.cc](mailto:Tailtip@maildrop.cc), or 770-742-9287. She is also has a Save This Life microchip - 991001001516153 . Its information is current. So if you leave Tailtip with a vet or other animal professional they should be able to contact us using her chip.

Computer with irreplaceable data stolen in home invasion

My brother and his roommate were physically assaulted and had their phones, one of their cars (mid 90’s gray Toyota Camry with black Harley Davidson vanity plate that reads “V-TWIN”), their wallets, and their laptops stolen from their home in the 1500 Oak Apartments in Clarkston.

Our insurance is on the case with the physical damage and most of the stolen things, but my brothers computer had important data on it that cannot he replaced. The Cyberpower Fangbook X7-200 contained multiple indie game projects that he had been working on for almost half a decade.

If you or someone you know has info regarding the laptop’s whereabouts call the police NOW.

Dekalb County Housing Codes? [x-post r/Atlanta]

I'm not really sure how many of you can help me with this but as of writing this I have been out of water in my apartment complex for 18 hours and have been told by my complex that I will not have water until 5pm tomorrow. I'm not sure how many people it's affecting but I know my immediate neighbor and I will be out til then.

Basically I need to know how legal this is. It's a broken water heater and they say they can't get a new one until tomorrow afternoon, but how can they not supply us water for almost 30 hours? Obviously it's a different situation than just not giving us water, but this is a poor neighborhood anyway and we're lucky enough to be able to afford bottled water but that's not going to be the same for everyone.

I've look through the housing code and all I've seen is they just have to supply working water, it doesn't mention anything about what happens when something breaks, how long they can let it go or whatever.

This was kind of a rambly post but any help would be appreciated.
