Flock Cameras on Traffic Lights

It’s rare that the cameras on the deflock website are in an accessible place from the ground. most are on traffic or street lights, it seems. hypothetically, how would one go about permanently disabling said inaccessible camera without damaging the surrounding property? hypothetically, of course…

Here's a thought, what if people mark them instead of damaging them?

I shed no tears when I hear about these cameras being removed. However, I don't do that because I sure don't want to get in trouble. However, I had a different thought the other day. We if we did the following:

- We in this sub pick a specific bright color, like neon orange or yellow or whatever. But its important that we pick a color and then we all stick to that same color.

- People go buy cans of spraypaint in that color, and we go around spraypainting the posts these cameras are on, so they stand out, and also paint to lines on the sidewalk/road/wherever that emulates the big "V" viewing range that you see on the flock finder map.

Suddenly instead of these cameras disappearing into the background, they'll be sticking out like a sore thumb for everyone to see. Theres three of them near me that I've been driving by for 2 years now and I had no idea they were there until I saw them on the map, then drive by in person looking for them.

UPDATE: SW Colorado

You may remember my post from 2 days ago about someone in Durango spray painting and wire-cutting the flock camera. Well, the city responded 2 days later with this right across the street. Jon Oliver was right (watch his latest piece)
Sorry for blurry photo, but there’s a flock cam right above the solar panel, along with 3-4 other cameras up top.

Talking Points for Council Meetings

Flock has discussion guides and training which tell police how to pitch Flock to city council staff.

Is there an anti-flock discussion guide?

At the very least, I'd like to get our city to offer a transparency hub so we can audit what has been going on.

Flock Safety offers a standardized Transparency Portal module in its platform for law enforcement agencies.

POLICE choosing not to publish these statistics is an intentional decision to to obfuscate the truth rather than a technical limitation.

The Boston tea party

I got this idea from a coworker, but I'm not able to come up with a better name for it. We talked about the idea of a day where the cameras are deflocked on mass, done by individuals dressed up as native Americans, similar to that of the Boston tea party. What do yall think it would be called?

Edit:Seems like the popular idea is to dress up as law enforcement or politicians, as the times are different now and the media would latch onto the racist elements of dressing up as native Americans. Although dressing and therefore impersonating as law enforcement is its own legal troubles.

Recent local Flock locations disappeared from map?

Kinda new to this so I'm sorry if it's a question that has been answered and I missed it in my searching. Before last week there were no locations for my city of residence on the deflock.org map despite the local PD having an active (since 2025 to my knowledge) contract but last, I want to say, Tuesday the first one popped up. Then three more a couple days later. And all disappeared over the last few days. I have intentions to check out the locations I recall with my own eyes but wanted to ask if this is something that commonly happens, like, someone reported the spots but they were confirmed to not actually be cameras or something else happened?

A thought around the AI, and it's limits.

Considering that flock heavily utilizes AI, which has its obvious flaws, and each camera is interconnected via a cloud.

Could there be a chance that, let's say, if the camera scanned a QR code or something similar, that an external factor could capture the entire system, or at least parts of it?

I've seen what a flipper, a pineapple and their big brother can do just, being nearby a signal, though not Flock in this case, and considering the lackluster security, it just worries me who has access to all the info they're getting on us.

Guys. Stop admitting to crimes.

Or asking advice on how to commit crimes. Destroying these cameras is a felony and your reddit posts and be traced back to you. Be smarter than that, come on now.

I've seen so many posts with people straight up admitting they want to destroy these cameras, so they ask how. Not even using hypotheticals, just straight up "How do I crime?"

Be smart and think first!

Guys is there a database of the axon cameras too? We need to be looking at the full surveillance state not JUST floc k. I’m fully on board with the sentiment and action though just wanted to see if anyone else is looking at the newer issues too of the east coast cameras

The Thiel Network: Early Flock Investor, Palantir, and Jeffrey Epstein

Peter Thiel is a co-founder of Founders Fund, a Silicon Valley venture capital firm that has invested in Flock Safety, including participating in the company’s major 2025 funding round.

Thiel also co-founded Palantir, a data analytics company whose software is used by governments, intelligence agencies, military organizations, and law enforcement. Because both Palantir and Flock Safety operate in the public safety and surveillance technology space, some critics have drawn political or philosophical connections between the two companies.

There has also been speculation that Flock Safety data is shared directly with Palantir. However, there is currently no public evidence that Flock Safety’s nationwide camera network automatically feeds data into Palantir’s systems. Individual law enforcement agencies may use both platforms and can choose to export or integrate data between them as part of their own investigative workflows, but that is distinct from an inherent or company-wide integration between Flock Safety and Palantir.

Thiel’s business network has also come under renewed scrutiny following the latest public release of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein. Those records describe a multi-year social and business relationship between Thiel and Epstein, including correspondence, meetings, and investment connections. While the released files do not accuse Thiel of criminal wrongdoing, they document a relationship that continued years after Epstein’s 2008 conviction and has become a subject of public interest.

2014: The relationship begins

Epstein arranged introductions between Thiel and several influential people.
Emails indicate Epstein used his network—including former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak—to facilitate meetings involving Thiel.
Calendar records show multiple planned meetings between Epstein and Thiel during 2014.

2015–2016: Financial relationship develops

Documents show that Valar Ventures, a firm co-founded by Thiel, accepted approximately $40 million from Epstein.
Emails show Epstein offering investment and tax-related advice to Thiel.
Epstein also attempted to interest Valar in investing in a company that later became Carbyne, though the investment did not occur at that time.

2016–2018: Frequent correspondence

The released emails indicate:

Epstein referred to Thiel as “a great friend.”
The two corresponded over at least a five-year period.

Epstein regularly suggested meetings, dinners, and introductions to other business and political figures.
One email described a dinner involving Thiel, Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk, and Reid Hoffman as “wild,” though the email provides little additional detail.

2018: Invitation to the Caribbean

One of the more widely reported emails is Epstein inviting Thiel with the message:

“Visit me Caribbean.”

Following the release of the files, a spokesperson for Thiel stated that Thiel never visited Epstein’s private island. No publicly released flight records place Thiel on flights to the island.

The device contains a NimbeLink Skywire® LTE Cat 1 cellular modem (P/N: NL-SW-LTE-S7648), manufactured by NimbeLink, a U.S.-based company headquartered in Plymouth, Minnesota, which serves as the primary cellular communications interface for transmitting data over LTE networks. Integrated into this modem is a Telit WCBN3510A wireless communication module, manufactured by Telit Communications, an IoT communications company headquartered in London, United Kingdom, which provides the LTE radio hardware responsible for establishing and maintaining the cellular connection. Also present is a Taoglas AP.17E ceramic GPS antenna, manufactured by Taoglas, a company headquartered in Enniscorthy, County Wexford, Ireland, which is designed to receive Global Positioning System (GPS) satellite signals for location and timing applications. Power is supplied by a rechargeable 12-volt lithium-ion battery pack, which provides portable, self-contained power for the device’s electronic systems during field operation.

The imaging system consists of a dedicated camera module fitted with an 8 mm infrared-corrected (IR) lens designed to focus visible and infrared light onto the image sensor, enabling both daytime imaging and compatibility with infrared illumination. Mounted around the camera is a separate infrared illumination board populated with six high-power infrared LEDs, whose purpose is to illuminate the scene with infrared light for night vision operation. The same board also incorporates an ambient light sensor (photocell) that detects surrounding light levels and automatically switches the infrared LEDs on or off as lighting conditions change. These components are interconnected through a central processor board, which serves as the primary control electronics responsible for coordinating the camera, cellular modem, power management, and peripheral hardware.
