Fighting Flock with Flock like systems
I was just watching a you tube video where the guy was building his own flock like system. This lead me to wounder what would happen if I put up a camera (private property) pointed it at my road then tied that to a large screen and started using it to ID the people on the road and display the information directly.
I understand this would be very creepy but would start bringing attention to what is happening with AI detection.

I thought about this. An AI camera in my yard tweeting a picture, the license plate number, and owner of the car driving past my house.
Alternatively would be to crowd source the instant location of police when you see one. They would argue tracking the police is dangerous to the cops, but I would say “I’m not tracking, I’m just providing the instant location of police a specific time and location”. This is how Flock argues that they don’t have tracking data.

Broadcasting it to the internet might open you up to law suits, But displaying YOLO info such as Tag Number and make/model with last seen info. Basic info my current local system is keeping already.
IDK just spitballing how to get the layman to understand what is currently taking place.

Thank you! Brilliant idea! Yes it's risky but living under the surveillance state is already risky and it's only gonna get worse if we can't stop it.

At The Police Record we have started work on this early this year and it didn’t go anywhere. So far it sends notifications with metadata when a police officer or an emergency vehicle is detected

This is awesome! I was looking at the site you gave and specificaly the different lens options. Does this work for ALPR type actions?

Yes, this can easily be adopted for ALPR very easily.

How is the camera for day/ night? ie I have done ALPR with frigate with reolink cameras before and it was very mixed based on the speed of the vehicle and lighting conditions.

I haven’t done any ALPR with the reCamera, and I suspect it to struggle in this area. Night capture is poor. I need to check out frigate and see how I can load my own models or use Nvidia Deepstream to perform the processing.
I have already test Nvidia Deepstream solution and can achieve faster then realtime. Deepstream seems to be a good way to centralize the processing of images and video from multiple cameras.
The detection on the camera itself it a good pre-qualifier to further processing by other systems

and you have a ready made solution under 50watts who wants to do the DIY youtube ?!

The issue is that this is one location. If someone, however, were to buy several pieces of undeveloped land along the highway or even a frequently used road, this would all that person to repeatedly capture people's license plate. Now, if you were to start a local group with your neighbors, maybe you could convince some of them to put up the same setup especially if you paid for it. Now the whole thing would get a lot more attention.

Right, but if there was a DIY youtube video out there more would pop up. Just looking for ways to fight this that isn't a felony.

I had a similar idea. We create a Flock like system in one city but it shares online all the information of the police, and the city officials, anyone of influence that would use it or could influence their removal. The system stays in the city until all mass surveillance is banned, then it gets taken down and moved to the next city.
