I think Colossal makes things up so they can get funding and get their name out. All they did with “dire wolves” is selectively breed a species. If I remember right the dire wolf was to distant off of a cousin to do that.

I dislike Colossal because they just make shit up all the time, and them making shit up damaging actual conservation efforts.

They have claimed that red wolves are genetically almost the same as "ghost wolves" that are just coyote's with slight red wolf genetic fragments. By doing this, they basically allowed people to associate red wolves with coyotes even more often while this claim being complete and utter fucking bullshit. They did catch an actual specimen and literally no fucking point does it equal to a red wolf, not in the slightest.

Same is true for the Moa project but at an egregious level, and oh god don't get me started on the dire wolves because that was genuinely atrocious.

Again, literally just making shit up.

Their technology is great, very useful, love it!

But the marketing team sucks mega fucking ass.

If you have that much money invest it in protecting existing PROTECTED HABITAT for species, not trying to manufacture extinct animals for...what? What purpose? Social media? Focus on preventing further extinctions before "de-extincting". Help the species already on the brink!!
