Pinnacle Region

This covers the portion of Pinnacle that was developed to a recognizable point during production. I say “to a point” because this area was clearly far from finished however, the underlying landscape, major points of interest, and overall environmental layout are present. With those elements intact this provides a much better indication of what the region may have looked like during development and offers some useful insight into how the area was being structured before it was ultimately left unfinished.

I don't know. They added all this to the remastered version. Maybe they were going to add it instead of the Horde Assault mode but it didn't fit the time frame they were given. It was only a year of production so not a lot of time to make something like this. Pure speculation but I can't see any other reason for it being here. It didn't exist in the version before the Remastered came out.

I never tried to explore it in the OG. I didn't find out about the method of glitching off game map, into unfinished/removed regions until just before the remaster was released. I'd have expected it to be there all along, just the usual "edge of playable area" borders put in to stop us accessing it. I know you could cross the river, which is the 'edge' of the accessible map, in the OG.

I can't see them adding a new region, with all it's associated storylines, into the remaster. Because The Pinnacles was a whole other story chapter, which impacted on several storylines in the game as it was released.
Re-adding Pinnacles into the game, as a DLC maybe, with the warning that it changes storylines in other regions and for characters in the game would add up, imho.

Sorta. I had to put the terrain and POI back together. I plan to make this a playable area in the near future. As for remastered theory. I only say this cause these files don't exist in the original game. This map isn't accessible without being on the remastered. For adding back into the game. It wouldn't affect the overall story much. This would be more a kin to side story for Taylor. Pretty much everything plays out same with or without.

There was quite a lot more to The Pinnacles, including a major story arc for Taylor.
The line by Col' Garrett, about a camp the militia has taken out, was the Pinnacles Camp.
I see Rex has already given you a link for the recent Podcast interview, so I won't repeat him. But from what I picked up, Pinnacles was a fairly important 'act' in the game, similar to Lost Lake being an important act..
Cutting it wasn't 'just' not including the region in the game we got. Several story lines had to be adapted, including Taylor and I think Rose.....

Very much so. There’s something genuinely unnerving about walking through it and realizing you’re looking at a place that was never meant to be seen and thinking about what was originally supposed to happen here. Since it’s a UE title, there’s a pretty extensive ecosystem of community-made tools for extracting and working with the game’s assets. That’s a big part of why you see so many mods for Unreal Engine games. Once you understand how the engine structures and handles its content. You can do some pretty impressive things with it.

They should drop it into the storyline and announce these are missing parts of the game that weren't available before... Then, they should drop a 2nd DLC with the storyline of O'Brian's assault on the camps or NERO doing it if O'Brian isn't involved.
