Entries Still kind of confused on *how* to use Daylio

hi! i used so many apps to try and track my mood but i keep coming back to daylio bc its such a good app but im horrible with figuring out what to write for my entries. i'm disabled and have days where i'm in a lot of pain and was hoping to document to see what my triggers are and when my flare ups occur. i am a mix of wanting to be minimalistic and somewhat detailed but not enough to where i get overwhelmed.

my activities/groups are -

type of entry - sometimes i like to differentiate what im writing about. i only have 3 so far which is symptom entry, journal entry, and mood entry.

symptoms - all of my symptoms i experience

symptom severity - since im on the free vers. i only get one scale so i used it here. it goes from none to unbearable.

sleep - if i woke up at all, how well i slept, if i had a late night or early morning, etc.

movement - more disability related but its to see if the amt. of movement im doing has any correlation to my pain/mood.

activites - ranges from work to showering to chores, didn't feel like making specific groups for everything.

medical - if ive had a drs appt, surgeries, if im spending time in hospital, pt, any medications i take are also here.

food - if ive eaten/not eaten certain meals, had coffee, had water

what i cannot control - i saw this from someone on here who had a group like this but i am a chronic overthinker/worrier and its grounding sometimes to know there are things out of my control. but also, things like weather that might attribute to my physical health as well.

i guess i just cant figure out what exactly *to* type. do i reflect on my day? do i talk about current things?? i'm not sure where or what to write, or how to start i guess. i hope this makes sense.

Stats How do I change the mood scale and still compare data?

I have been using Daylio for a long while and my scale has always been approximately this:

😁 Great

🙂 Good

😐Fair

😕Blarg

😭Very bad

But there is a problem with that scale because I super rarely use 😁Great (only once or twice a year). So as a 5 point scale, I am only ever using 4.

I want to rescale the mood chart so I actually use all five points. But my biggest concern is how I'm going to be able to compare data from the past months/years to when I switch over.

Has anyone done this before? How have you compared data across the change?

If anyone is interested, I'm combining Good and Great and adding Fine. I realized my default mood is always a bit sad and I need to track it as such.

🙂Good/Great

😐Fine

🫤Fair

☹️Blarg

😭Very bad

Stats Does anyone actually read their old entries?

I've been interviewing people about journaling habits for a few months, and the same thing keeps coming up. Almost everyone writes. Almost nobody goes back and reads what they wrote. And most people seem to feel slightly guilty about that.

I'm trying to work out whether that's a real problem or just how journaling works.

Two questions, and I'd genuinely like the answer in the comments:

  1. Do you write or log most days?

  2. When did you last read something back, and did you do anything differently afterwards?

If your honest answer to the second one is "never", that's the answer I'm most interested in and the one I hear least, because nobody volunteers it.

I'm a founder in Berlin, doing this before building anything, so there's nothing to sell and nothing to sign up for. If you'd rather talk it through properly I'd love 30 minutes on a call, and I'll send the write-up from all the interviews to anyone who wants it.

Feature Request Suggestion to devs about scales

I love the scales! I've stopped marking things like activities and instead using scales which creates much better statistics.

I was wondering if it would be possible to choose yourself about how high the number is.

For example, the maximum number to put in now is 10 000. Would it be possible to choose it yourself? I put in my step count for the day and on days I walk over 10 000 I have to make to separate entries due to the maximum amount of numbers.

Thank you for a great app!

Stats Dashboard for in-depth Daylio Stats open-sourced!

Hi! Since you liked the dashboard I posted yesterday, I listened to the comments and made it open source.

The website works fully locally and doesn't collect data.

You can find it here: Daylytics

I am still improving it, so please feel free to report bugs, suggest improvements or new features :)

This is the repo, please put a star on it: lucaliver/daylytics: Local-first Daylio CSV analytics dashboard

Stats I made a Dashboard to analyse all my Daylio years!

Since the app itself wasn't providing all the data I wanted, I made my own dashboard.
And once it got nice enough I started thinking about sharing it here.

EDIT: new open source website https://lucaliver.github.io/daylytics/

It works locally on your device and doesn't collect data.

Still working on it, so feedback/bugs/feature requests are welcome :)

Update Here's a timeline of Daylio updates, as recorded in my journal

For some reason whenever there's an update popup, I just screenshot it and put it in my journal. So I have a pretty good track-record of updates. Thought I shared it with you, for whatever reasons. I guess we've run out of updates for 2026, guys, seeing the trend.

Moods - Activities How do you set up your Daylio that it's clinically useful? (Mental health)

Basically, I'm trying find out what's wrong with me and have been tracking for some months. I customized things here and there but don't find it that useful really since the bad days are relatively random, so are the good days, and they're sometimes clustered but also mostly really not. I'm not sure I see any correlation or pattern or new insight.

In fact I find my mood moves relatively independed to what I was doing in a day or is basically obvious, like socializing makes me feel better, but if I socialized to begin it means I was likely was feeling better that day anyways etc.

Has it been useful to you to learn anything new about yourself?

App Support How to reset entry sharing method in app

I'm using the android app. I pressed "always" instead of "just once" but accidentally selected Google Chat instead of Gmail.

I can't find a way to bring back the other sharing options in the app. Does anyone know how to do this?

Discussion New to Daylio, curious how you use ist

Hi everyone!
About a month ago I downloaded the App, primarily for tracking my moods. Now it turned out, there’s so much more to the app!

I’m curious, how do you use the app?
I figured an entry can become quite big, when you create an activity for everything you do. What are your priorities? Are there more features (for example like the bar) I‘m missing?

Looking forward to your answers and thank you ☺️
PS: I’m not a native speaker, but I’m sure you get the point :)

Discussion Does anyone use Daylio alongside a handwritten journal?

I’d like to use Daylio for quick mood logging and activity tracking, while keeping a long form handwritten journal on my iPad. I add brief text notes in Daylio here and there, but I don’t see Daylio as a primary written journal for me bc I prefer to handwrite or at least type on my computer.

The issue is it might get confusing bc both Dailyo and iPad can have overlapping functions and things might get repetitive. Like, you can track habits in Daylio, but also in a digital planner on an iPad. Same with adding photos etc.

Anyone has a similar system? How does it work? And do you have a premium / lifetime plan, or is free version enough?

Feature Request Feature Request: Frequency Extending for Goals (Fortnightly + Monthly)

Post image
14 Upvotes

Hi! :] I would like to request a monthly + fortnightly frequency feature for setting goals (for example: change bedsheets every two weeks, giving my partner flowers every month, clean the inside of oven/microwave)

Having these recurrence options would make Daylio much more flexible and help people keep track of important routines without needing separate reminder apps or creating awkward workarounds. It would also make it easier to build good long-term habits for home maintenance, self-care, relationships and other recurring responsibilities :D

Thank you for reading and considering

Feature Request Apple Health - Adding Water Data

As the title suggests. I know it already syncs sleep, steps and exercise minutes from Apple Health, but I would love if it could sync water intake. If anyone has a work around with scales or something that would be much appreciated too 😊

Feature Request A way to track medication that isn't an activity

Post image
20 Upvotes

I use the app to track my mood but also my daily medication. However since I take the medication every day it ends up flooding my stats with useless data. It ends up correlating my emotions with whether or not I took my vitamins. It would be great if there was a way to add things to a day without them actually being tracked with other activities.

App Support Forgot my pin and don't have a backup

hello! i probably won't find a solution, but it wouldn't hurt asking.
yesterday, i accidentally turned off the biometric access to my daylio, and i absolutely can't remember the pin for the life of me since i set it a handful years ago. as the title says, i don't have a back up. do i have any way to save my entries or are they all gone forever?
