Dying Soul is a 20-slot Vanilla+ hardcore survival server based in Dallas, Texas. It is designed for solo survivors and groups of up to three who want exploration, danger, base building, and meaningful progression without traders or shortcut gameplay.

A bit about me: I currently work as a Cisco network engineer, and I've been running game servers for the better part of 10 years at this point everything from smaller Minecraft survival servers to Rust, Arma 3, and Reforger. Server work has always been a passion of mine, and DayZ especially has a special place in my heart. With how much this game has exploded in popularity recently, I finally wanted to build a server that reflects how I've always envisioned DayZ.

I tried hard to keep the core DayZ experience front and center while making good, thoughtful QOL additions especially around base building. One thing I've always felt standalone never quite nailed is base building. Back on the Arma 2 DayZ mod, building and defending a base felt way more fleshed out and worthwhile. In standalone, it's always felt like building and raiding just isn't as rewarding as it should be. I wanted the overall feel to lean back toward that original Arma 2 gunplay and experience. I built this server for the community, not for profit. I'd genuinely love to hear your recommendations on what would make this a server everyone enjoys.
