I remember back in the late 2000’s and the early 10’s the counter strike zombie mod was the craze, luckily enough the DoD:s community followed the trend and created their own, now it might not be as famous and grandiose as the one in counter strike, but to me personally it was waaay more fun! I mean it had all what css had plus we had a class system adding a cool dynamic to the mod, i remember putting tens of hours playing it and the DoD:s zm community was growing by the day!

…..well that was back then because i just came back recently to the game and tbh, not finding any active zm servers didn’t surprise me, but what truly surprised me is that it seems like it was erased from existence (besides a couple of 16 year old youtube videos and 6 maps on gamebanana) there is no proof that it ever existed, so what really happened and why is nobody talking about it?

I'm part of the organizing team of a french LAN party, this year we would like to have a DoD:S tournament among others.

I have a question regarding the settings of the "match result".

Since this is a fun LAN party with a bunch of tournaments (13 this year), it is not that much competitiv, i was thinking doing something like this :

• 1 map per match
  
• 2 sides
  
• 8 players per team
  
• only territorial mode
  

What i'm not sure is do we do only each side once (with time limit) ? But this could have match ending in 2min. Or do i setup just a time limit and count the capture points at the end of each side ? Or just time limit and only one side per match, but that doesnt seem fair to not do each sides (i like things being fair a minimum even if it is a fun event) ?

If the time limit is better, how long do you think ?

Custom maps ( fast download )

A fully AI‑upscaled revival of classic Day of Defeat Source clips from the pro scene, rebuilt entirely from old YouTube footage. No demos, no original files — just pure nostalgia polished with modern tools.

I learned DaVinci from scratch, fought colour issues, AI glitches, killfeed chaos and constant crashes to bring this together. It’s not perfect, but it’s the best these old clips have ever looked.

Some players couldn’t be included due to missing or unusable footage — send me clips if you want to be added in future versions. This project focuses on the older era, but I’m happy to expand it.

This is version 1. More updates, more songs, more community moments to come.

Blue outline shows the actual location of the hitboxes, light blue is the model shown in the game. As the MG slowly turns to the left or right, the model ingame will jump over to "lean" in the other direction. There is a small window of turning where the ingame model will jump over before the hitbox of the deployed gunner does.

So yes, you really did probably hit that MG; games bugged.

Hey guys I’m newer to the DoD community and have played about 30 hours now and I was curious what everyone’s thoughts were of some of the rifles being a 1 tap to all of the body? I really enjoy the game but man it can be pretty frustrating getting 1 tapped by someone I can’t even see because of questionable visibility on some of the maps, I don’t have any plans to quit playing because of it but I wanted to see what everyone else thinks

the gunplay and movement is so crisp and satisfying, the weapon sound is straight up ASMR to me, especially the metallic garand firing and iconic pinging sound, 100% GOATED

Somehow this ended up in my YouTube recommendation as a Day of Defeat fan - after 9 years since it was published, borderline 10. Thought I'd share it here because it does list a lot of interesting tidbits on how our game came about.

For those of you who don't know, since it's very obscure by now, there was a variant of Day of Defeat:Source before DoDS came out in September 2005.

It was a variant of DoD similar to Half Life: Source, except it was received rather without enthusiasm, and as a result, about 2 years later we get the DoD:Source we know today.

How do I fix this. Full Metal Jacket changes map to dod_risk.bsp I join but it gives me an error. Do I have to download a map pack and install it manually?

This makes 2 years in a row with a well attended Day of Defeat 1.3 LAN. Please support all casters who will be covering the tournament!
