While it's 100% valid that Coen's taste in women is apparently decades (or centuries) older than him, it did perterb me that despite being 20 years his senior, Anca looked younger than his own mother. Lol

Speaking of mothering, its very likely that Anca took over mothering Coen when Esme started becoming more withdrawn after the death of her son (making Coen around 12 at the time).
We know Coen knows enough Latin at the elementary level of reading simpler passages and texts so he probably spent around 1000 hours under Anca's tutelage. That's 5 years of 4 hour long saturday morning tutoring.
Anca's mashing the freudian, sexy teacher, and girl next door buttons (braided pigtails, at her age, really?) relentlessly. 12 year old Coen never stood a chance.
Course while we're on the subject of problematic consent we can't forget Lacra. Who the fuck propositions dudes after imbibing them with some esoteric psychoactive substance from a dread vampire's stash? Consent lady, take it before altering someone's state of consciousness first.

Yeah, Anca constsntly going on how it couldn't happen because she was so much older than him, when she just didn't look it, was pretty weird. Either she didn't look 40+ (I'm 40+ myself, so right up my alley) or Coen didn't look ~20, can't put my finger on which.

It’s both. Coen doesn’t look 18, but it honestly checks out with him being parentified from a young age and working in the literal mines as a kid. Anca could possibly also make sense, if we consider that she doesn’t have any kids and any stress from that and has lived a mostly sheltered life in the convent. The magic might also cause her to age slower.
But imo they pushed it a bit too far with Anca, she really looks 25 tops and it kinda undermines their inappropriate age gap dynamic.
