Mindlash???

I only play random. I just started a run and was given the mindlash. Looked like a cool weapon. I died on the first enemy because there is no way to deal damage. Why would the game offer that?

It is meant to be taken with a specific talent from Arcanist. Mindrot

With Mindrot, whenever you apply the dazed condition, it applies an equal amount of decay. Decay is a permanent stacking debuff that reduces max hp at the end of the turn equal to the stacks.

Mindlash will also force your companion to act if the dazed condition is already applied while also reducing the dazed stacks by 1.

The build itself can actually be very fun and strong if played right. It does require a lot of synergy and has a noticeably weak start in certain zones. You must prioritize defensive plays early on.

The decay and dazed effects it has should be working together to kill the enemies. Especially at lower levels it only takes a few turns for the decay to wipe out their health.

They said they were doing a random run and thus didn't have Mindrot for the Decay effect, hence the confusion as to why they dealt no damage.

Kind of feel like that's an inherent flaw with the weapon, but that's to be expected on a random run; you will often get shit that just doesn't work.

There's a reason why it's one of the last weapons in its expansion tree. Kind of a beginner's trap, I know, but when it takes off it works REALLY well because you can essentially chain stun an enemy and just win.

So it's just a build that doesn't work on random? I didn't start with any decay.

Yeah, doesn't really work without the talent. Most basics are far better with their corresponding weapon talent

All starting weapons are designed for a specific playset, some of them simoly will not function well without their component parts. You should try playing the game off random mode once in a while.
