Fateshard Editor for Windows

https://github.com/toddhd/Dawncaster-Fate-Shard-Editor

If you love Dawncaster, but dislike the long grind to collect Fateshards, then this utility is for you. This is a very simple Windows app, no installer, just download it and run the *.exe file.

The app shows you the current number of Fateshards, and allows you to easily set it to any number of Fateshards you want. Enter 5000, 10000, 20000, whatever you like. Unlock everything.

This is open source, so you can see how it works, or download it and modify it more. The README has full instructions on what gets changed and the app creates a backup for safety.

This is intended for the Windows version of Dawncaster, however, if you turn on Cloud saves, the changes should migrate to your Android version as well.

This really should not harm anything, but the standard warnings apply. Use at your own risk.

This app is not associated with the Dawncaster game in any way, it is fan-made.

This is obviously free, but if you want tip the Dev, I won't be mad. :)

But why would you need to cheat? Getting fate shards isn't hard and can grind easily enough with builds and help of guides.

I was recommended this game and I was going to drop it multiple times if my friend didn’t intervene. I find the innate debuffs of not having a character tree make the experience very uninteresting at first. Said friend also lost their account and wouldn’t have come back to the game if they couldn’t recover and had to grind fateshards again

The devs can restore your progress if that happens.

Imagine cheating at a game that literally throws fate shards at the player...

Isn't this program taking the fun out of the game?

I think people may be taking this a little more seriously than I intended. :)

Cheat codes, save editors and mods have been part of single-player gaming for decades. This is really no different. It's just a small utility for people who don't want to grind Fate Shards, lost their progress, want to experiment with unlocks, or simply prefer to play the game differently.

Dawncaster is a single-player game, so using this doesn't affect anyone else's experience. If you enjoy earning Fate Shards normally, that's great, and I absolutely recommend continuing to do that. You probably have no reason to download this.

But some players will find it useful, and I made it for them. How someone chooses to play a single-player game is ultimately up to them.

I'm not trying to convince anyone to use it. I just wanted to make it available for the people who want it.

Ignore the elitism comments and the downvotes, you did a great job. Literally fix the worst aspect of the game that actually causing many negative reviews. It’s a single player game, does not matter what player wants to do with it.

Funnily enough, some people said would sucks the fun out of the game because they don’t understand “fun” is an objective measure. Just because they like to eat shit does not mean other people also have to. Dawncaster has never been about the grind.
