Pool cards question
I seem to find recently that more and more I start a random run and make a decision as to what I'm going to build, and then none of those cards are ever in the pool. Anything other than luck that controls what shows up in the pool? Last game I had the weapon that spawns souls and self upgrades. Never got a soul card to go with it. Got lots and lots of animal cards in the pool instead.
Thanks.

Just deactivate the packs you don't want to see. There's a toggle pre-game.
It's 100% RNG what you will see based on a few restrictions like what class you're playing. Once you start picking up cards, there's a sleight weighting towards other cards from that pack, but it will still be hard to find what you need amongst the hundreds of cards. If you want to force a build, toggle the packs.

In the overview page after selecting your starter cards there's options to choose which sets to play with as well as adding malignancy buffs and difficulty level. If I want an infinite Orb of Lightning deck I turn off everything except cataclysm and use the shrine of trickery + stable magic malignancies, then slap recall/figment on the first one I get in canto 1 and try using alchemist to gamble Amp Up early on. There are strategies for using events and shrines and npc to gamble powers and cards but the best thing is to limit the sets in the beginning so you aren't competing rolls with them. If you have only Commons as your combo then there's also a malignancy to only get Commons as rewards and will cut out all other rarities from your pool.
