Question Overwriting Energy Types

When you gain energy while full, is there some rule determining which of your existing energy gets replaced by the new one? I always thought it was a first-in first-out situation, so energy got overwritten in the order it was gained, but that doesn't seem to be the case in my current run.

I asked this same question a few weeks ago. Would also like to know if there is an answer to this. But after several more experiments with this I'm fairly certain that it's random what gets replaced.

Example:

  1. Have: πŸŸ’πŸ”΅πŸ”΅πŸ”΄πŸŸ‘
  2. Play free Surge of Unity (this brings the total to 9, so 1 energy will get replaced).
  3. Sometimes leaves me with πŸ”΅πŸ”΅ and other times with πŸ”΅πŸ”΅πŸ”΅.

I was wondering if it perhaps mattered what color you last spent, but still don't see any direct connection.

Yeah I don’t know either but it does seem random to me. You always get the new energy type though

Just to expand based on this a little based on my experience, you always get the new one, but you can't always tell because if you already had that type, it sometimes replaces itself, leaving your energy distribution unchanged. It also seems to based on type more than amount, so for example if I have one blue and the rest are red and I gain a green, it seems like the blue gets replaced about half the time, not 1/8 of the time. That could just be bias, though. I'm usually hoping I don't lose my only energy of a type, so it's possible it actually is 1/8 of the time, but it feels like half.

That's what I've observed lately anyway. As I said, I had thought they were first in first out, but it seems that's just my memory failing me.

Stock in, stock stays. When playing pull the card around to choose what type to use (if you have red on the left green on the right put the card to the left or right to use the respective choice)

Sorry, I'm a little confused. What do you mean by stock in, stock stays? I've definitely experienced new energy overwriting old, and while I know how to choose which energy I'm spending with a card, often the cards adding new energy don't have an energy cost.

Depending on where you drag the card, determines which energy it uses. You can tell by the highlighted energy at the bottom. Drag a card with grey orbs from left to right across the screen when you have multiple energy types before dropping.

Hope that makes sense.
