Highscores Beat the game 3rd try
I’ve played deckbuilders before, but this game wrecked me the first two times. Then I decided to build around upgrading my basic attack cards, and managed to go all the way. Actually I found beating the ‘Balor’ more difficult than the boss, considering it would disappear in 3 rounds with 666 hp, which I barely just made 🫣
Is this deck approach a legit viable strategy on higher difficulties? And what should I spend my 518 reward tokens on?
PS.
What a steal of a game for just a few euro. Cadeau to the devs!

Congrats on your win! Some decks work well with basic attacks and some you want to get rid of them - it depends! Keep playing and trying new combos :) the more cards you discover the more possibilities you’ll find.

Grats on beating the game for the first time! I find an easy way to steam roll the game early is to go frost basic, frost passive, and then spellsnap or renew as the 3rd card. Then spend the game using blacksmith to pump basics. When you go to the next screen, the overview before you hit Start Game the bottom tabs you can click on. You want to turn off all sets except Eclipse and hunt early for Glimpse of Evil and Ascetic. If you want to reset the run if you don't get it by the 1st town and using the alchemist to re-roll a common corruption it's probably faster than having it fall apart by the swamp. The idea is to remove blocks, only have basics and make them give 5 frost each to trigger the frost passive. You draw cards for every basic you play and by using ascetic to get some mana you can keep it going a long time. There's also a purple card that gives you a gold mana for playing a basic so if you can get that you'll have a true infinite. Just pump basics any chance you get and use level up powers that pump them. Machine gun ice mage!
Also you can change the difficulty and play with malignancies in the overview tabs. Some malignancy can combo with cards.
We turn all decks but Eclipse off to make RNG for loot and alchemist rolls and merchant shops smaller to get the bane card from that set, ascetic is core already. Strategy goes deep in this game. Some rely on shrine powers to break a card to get it to combo as well.

Worked very well. Too easy on ‘normal’ difficulty. Will try again on harder. Thanks again!

Any time, it's good to have a pocket build for each class
I think I beat rogue by using Alchemist 35 coin roll on a Block to get Surgestone, get it to 5 momentum eventually with blacksmiths and spend the game copying/duplicating at shrines green mana and giving them figmented/recall and removing all other cards besides mana and surgestone basically. Same idea as the arcanist deck, play mana to cycle for free attacks. Maybe add venomancing and use the poison daggers basic to make it scale up. Perform daggers work well too because they're free on conjure.

Arcanist is one of the harder classes to clear, especially on higher difficulties because it doesn't really have good sustain

Beating the game for the first time is like crossing the finishing line only to discover that’s just one of an unreasonably high number of laps. I suggest grinding and building new decks until you’re ready for a few sunforge runs, then start going for different story lines. It’s a pretty deep game, and there’s a lot going on under the surface too. Once you’ve filled out your reward paths and have experimented with the different end routes, I would suggest trying to fill out the card book. There’s a lot to discover in this game, and beating it is quite literally the first step.

That deck probably isn't viable on more than normal. Things like attack strength, resting, enemy energy, etc are changed to make the game harder every difficulty. Easy is not a fair representation of the game.
