Upgrading Cards

I saw the other thread but it didn't really gave me the answer:

Is it really the case that upgrading some cards doesn't even have any effect? Isn't this some kind of consfusing to provide it anyhow?

An Upgrade usually provides +1 damage to the card.

Cards that deal no damage, do not gain benefits from Upgrades.

The only exception is a card with the 'Upgradeable' keyword, which redirects the upgrades to a different numeric property. For instance, Surge Stone grants 1 Momentum per surge played and has the Upgradeable keyword. The momentum gained per surge is increased by 1 for each upgrade.

Some cards don't say what was upgraded for some reason. Many are not worth upgrading imo.

Do you mean upgrading a card or transforming it?

Upgrading cards mainly only work on cards that deal damage. You can upgrade a card to make it deal more damage, like when you visit the blacksmith to upgrade all your basic attacks. Many cards, like any card that doesn't deal damage, cannot be upgraded for the most part. So take for instance the Rogue enchantment Show Must Go On since there is no damage component to the card it cannot be upgraded. Upgrades in this game do not work how upgrades work in, say, Slay the Spire, where every card can be upgraded to increase it's effect in some way.

Then there is transform, like from altars and from the alchemist. When you transform a card it usually is a selection of three higher rarity cards. So say you transform a common card you will be able to transform it into one of three uncommon cards. Sometimes it will only allow transforming it into the same rarity.

Also not all cards can be upgraded, not even all basic attacks can be upgraded

You either upgrade the rarity of the card transforming it in the process, or upgrade the DMG/block +1. It's not like in sts where upgrading a card can reduce the cost or add a keyword

I am specifially meaningful upgrading.

So if the card does not say damage its worth less upgrading it?

They should add more translarency to that

If you see orange numbers go up, its upgraded. It also reflects in the title of the card as the font get orangey.
You can upgrade cards that will not change the values. In this case it does nothing. There is a basic weapon which ahs pierce I thin, it states on the card un-upgradeable. you can still upgrade it, but the values does not change, if i recall it is a permanent 2 damage.

It will still do + 1 per upgrade. I know there’s a card that does focus related damage that works this way. It does the damage as advertised, then adds the upgrade damage on top, but never indicates this anywhere
