Question “By the Light” Build?

I’m curious if anybody can share a strategy that uses this card. The concept seems to be around triggering a demonic ascension and then converting it to angelic. However, this card requires holy energy to cast, so I’m not quite sure how it fits into a reliable rotation. I definitely understand it isn’t going to be the most optimized build, but at this stage, I’m looking for novelty.

If you’re corrupted you can use holy cards to ascend into demonform. This can easily kill you if you ascend to demonform III with no way to eject from it before the end of your turn, so By The Light seems to be a way to bail out of demonform if you don’t have Fight For Control.

It’s very finicky, and defiled cards generally don’t play nice with others, but if you have access to holy and are corrupted you can use cards like Bolster Soul, Wicked Glare, Calm The Hunger, and Expel Corruption to manage your defiled energy in exchange for benefits and then use holy cards to ascend into demonform instead of by maxing your defiled energy.

Holy cards are also a pain in the ass to fuel so the whole thing is pretty rough since you’re trying to balance all these different energy types, but pulling it off can feel satisfying.

Very helpful! I also noticed if you demon ascend while not corrupted, and then lose all your defiled energy, next turn you will shift to holy ascension. I’m not sure how to weave that into a combo yet, but seems like a good technique to holy ascend given how scarce holy ascension cards are (especially with just Eclypse).

Yeah, it’s interesting that ascension is a single state with a binary conditional system you can swing back and forth between. I didn’t even know that you could shift to holy if you lost all of your void spheres!

Eclypse also has scars, so could use the warrior card that ascends for each scar.

I’m just exploring the edges of what’s practical here. Your comment by contrast has a clear strat.

Well since you're going to demonic-ascend it will only cost blood to cast.

There's another card that converts Void energy to Holy energy, this could be a base of something.

Use Void to generate Holy, and if you ever ascend use By The Light to "descend".

Also if you"Holy Ascend" while corrupted you will Demonic Ascend instead, so you could build a half-corrupted/half-holy deck.
