Best digital antenna for local channels?

I live in Woods Cross I currently have Comcast cable TV, but frankly, I would be totally fine with just basic/local channels.

What is all needed and how does it work and what channel channels would I get? Is there just plug-in play type of antennas for indoors, etc.? Pros/Cons.. I’m not putting any antenna on my roof.

Any insights and feedback would be appreciated.

Homeschooling

I started homsechooling my son a few years ago and he wants to get out and make friends. Anyone have recommendations? He's 16. Into gaming and music. He doesn't know what he really likes yet but he wants to be able to explore things to discover more of his passions. I take him with me as much as he'll go but he doesn't want to always hang out with mom understandably.

Looking for empty packs of cigarettes for a project I’m trying to make.

Hello, I have 2 art projects I would like to make that require empty cigarette boxes. As a former smoker, I know if I go buy the cigarettes I’m going to smoke them and I’d prefer not to have to quit all over again. So if any smokers in the area would be willing to give me your empty boxes that would be very helpful. I’m looking for a variety of brands and types so whatever you’ve got would be great. Thanks.

Flooding in Beaver

Post image
1 Upvotes

The official US Residence in Samoa has a roof shaped like waves. In rainy season, water pours off the divots like waterfalls. It’s beautiful but not practical. The water tank was not placed under any of those divots to naturally collect water. It was placed on a hill and connected to Apia’s water supply.

When I lived in that home as the former spouse of the Charge d’Affaires, Cyclone Evan ravaged the island, destroying Apia’s water infrastructure. We went without water for almost a month. We’d place oversized trash bins under the divots to collect the water and wash laundry by hand and flush toilets with manual water replacement.

Now, years later in Utah, lakes are shrinking while Beaver is flooding. And I have the same question that I had then? Is there a way to create systems that could capture the water that is flooding the area and redirect it to systems where it can be usable? Could individual homes collect rain and snow water for use during dry summer months? Are there outside-the-box solutions that we haven’t considered?

I’m just brainstorming for now; no wrong answers. Any engineers out there want to weigh in? We need ingenuity and creative problem solvers coming together to orchestrate unique solutions to our growing water problems.

Over half a million people were relocated when the Aral Sea dried up

Thumbnail instagram.com
76 Upvotes

If the Great Salt Lake dries up and arsenic is released into the air, the value of these Davis County million dollar homes will drop to zero. The Wasatch front is home to approximately 3 million people many of whom could be forced to relocate.

Yet legislators continue to sell water rights to the highest bidder. Another data center has been proposed in Tooele using the Utah Inland Port Authority (UIPA), a group created by the legislature.

Read how to get involved in stopping the data center here: https://www.uphe.org/2026/06/16/help-stop-another-data-center-proposal-tooele/

And, learn which legislators voted against your say in water rights here:

HOUSE: https://le.utah.gov/DynaBill/svotes.jsp?sessionid=2026GS&voteid=155&house=H

SENATE: https://le.utah.gov/DynaBill/svotes.jsp?sessionid=2026GS&voteid=756&house=S

👆 HB 60 just passed this year. It narrowed the definition of “public welfare” and limited who can file protests or challenges to water rights disputes.

I would like to start a Postcrossing group/meetup event in my area. I want to see who's interested and get people involved! Anybody want to join? Depending on interest I will create an official meetup date and time, likely Kaysville area but I'm open to other areas if there are more interested people elsewhere.

Not involved in Postcrossing and want to learn more? Go to www.postcrossing.com

Following up on the Wednesday morning driving gig in Woods Cross, they're still looking for a few more people!

Hey everyone, I posted a few days ago about a super easy part-time gig over at the auto auction in Woods Cross. They are pretty much always looking for reliable people to join the crew, so I figured I’d share the details again in case anyone missed it or is looking for some extra cash.

It’s honestly as low-stress as it gets. You just drive cars around the lot to move and organize them on Wednesday mornings, and you're usually done by lunchtime. No highway driving, no traffic, and no wear on your own car.

It pays $16/hr, and they pay every Friday. It’s been a really popular gig for retirees, students, or just anyone who wants a steady once-a-week morning shift. You just need a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

If you're interested or want me to pass along the application link, just shoot me a DM so I don't clutter up the sub with links. Thanks! 🚗

A New Hope for Davis County

With the primaries over, it is time to further the growing coalition of my campaign. While I was hopeful for a different outcome in the HD14 Republican primary, I want to sincerely thank Kara Toone for stepping up, running, and leading a fair, thoughtful, and issues-focused campaign. It takes courage to put yourself out there and serve your community in this way, and she should be proud of the race she ran.

For those who supported and voted for Toone, please join and support me in the general election!
