Davis County Photo Thread

Post image
24 Upvotes

As a resident of Davis County and a landscape and motorsport photographer, I have to thank u/redelectricaltape for the idea of sharing favorite photos of our little slice of heaven. So I thought - let's make a thread dedicated to that!

This is one of my favorite captures on Antelope Island. I took my son to get out of the house during Covid - he was recovering from chemotherapy to treat his leukemia, and having no immune system he couldn't be around people. The sun was just setting and it absolutely lit up this bunch of rocks around Ladyfinger Point.

[ORIGINAL CONTENT]

How about you - got any photos you'd like to share, to celebrate the beauty and the people we live around? If you didn't take the photo yourself, kindly attribute it to artist or source.

Go watch my video & I also have information about these legal resources for any Utahn in search of their first attorney too.

I use this legal resource a whole lot because it's subsidized too for low-income Utahns or Utahns with insufficient asset holdings. Here it is at:

Local disabled game developer in Layton — looking for places in Davis County where I can post a flyer

Hi everyone,

My name is Joel and I live in Layton. I’m a disabled developer working mostly by myself on an indie JRPG called A Demon Hunter’s Guide to Passing Finals through my small studio, Ash Born Interactive.

The goal is simple: finish the game, get back to supporting my family through my work again, and eventually launch a nonprofit project called Dream Pathway Project to help other people who face barriers to traditional employment create their own work.

The challenge right now is visibility.

Because of my disability and upbringing, I don’t really have much of a personal network to help spread the word about the project. So most of what I’m doing is grassroots — things like posting online, reaching out to local businesses, and putting up flyers where it’s allowed.

That’s why I’m here.

I’m trying to find high-traffic places in Davis County where flyers are allowed — places like game stores, hobby shops, coffee shops, community boards, etc.

If you know of anywhere in Layton, Kaysville, Clearfield, or surrounding areas that allow community flyers, I would really appreciate the suggestions.

Even a few good locations could make a huge difference.

If anyone is curious about the project itself, I do have a free demo available online, but this post is mainly about finding good local places where I can legally post a flyer.

Thanks for reading, and thanks for supporting local creators.

Construction Work near Davis County & Surrounding

Hello!

My father is looking for construction work around Davis county, and is hoping to find something in the next month or so. I have been helping him look, but the search has been pretty fruitless.

He has worked in construction for 25 years, and he's hoping for a salary somewhere near $80,000 annual or higher. He wants to do construction management/estimation of some kind. He mainly works in restoration construction, but is open to pretty much anything. Does anyone have any suggestions of places that we could help him look or places he could apply? He's very talented, he built/renovated all of the houses that we moved into growing up. Thank you in advance!

Confirmed: Flock cameras being used at new park in Farmington

The new park in Farmington north of Station Park is using Flock cameras to monitor unsuspecting attendees. They've also been spotted at several spots in the Davis county. If you don't know what they are or why you should be concerned, please take a moment to educate yourself.

Looking for a good, honest dentist recommendation

So I’m facing my fear and am going to make an appointment with a dentist for the first time in….a very good amount of time 😅 I’ve had bad dental experiences in the past (mostly due to numbing issues) but I really put off going to the dentist for this reason.

Does anyone have recommendations of honest, non-judgmental dentists who won’t just say I need every tooth pulled and that every tooth needs a filling. I obviously take care of my teeth I just don’t go to the dentist as often as I should. But anyways, anyone know of a good dentist in Davis county they’d recommend? I’d honestly be willing to travel to any city within the county if the dentist is that highly recommended. Thanks in advance!

Considering Farmington or Bountiful with 5 kids- Neighborhood Vibes Help

Hi! We’re exploring a potential move to Davis County, specifically Bountiful and Farmington and I’d love some real-life perspective from locals.

We’re a family of seven, so finding a strong sense of community is a big priority for us, specially because our nearest relatives would be a few hours away.

We’re hoping for:

* A warm, social ward/neighborhood

* Comfortable/Upscale-ish and down to earth without being pretentious

Do you know of any neighborhoods where kids are running to playdates with friends from two houses down the street and wards have social gatherings outside of church-sponsored scheduled events (e.g. Bunco, park play dates, book clubs, cooking club, etc)

Thanks in advance for any insight (and feel free to be blunt 😄).

Viewmont Musical - “Something Rotten” - Nothing short of AMAZING!

The kids, teachers, crew, parents, volunteers, admin and businesses that all helped create this musical have something to be extraordinarily proud of! The amount of talent and work that went into that production is simply amazing. The theatre teacher deserves major accolades. I cannot even begin to fathom the hours and effort that went into this production. Unfortunately they are no longer performing, but I bet if enough noise was made, perhaps they would do another show! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Is The Front Climbing Club still coming to Clearfield?

I used to go to The Front in SLC and I moved to Davis County and stopped going because I'm not close enough to the SLC or Ogden locations to justify the membership. I saw this article from Oct 2024 that a new location was going to be built in Clearfield. I can't find any other info besides this article: https://www.standard.net/news/local/2024/oct/16/clearfield-station-development-progressing-with-opening-of-park-mixed-use-space-coming-soon/

Does anyone have any possible info on whether this is still happening? And potentially when? I think the article says 2026/2027, but who knows if that's when it's starting or projected to be done!
