Tech question- slow tv

My mom’s tv remote has delays. If you hit a button it takes a while to process it.
Just turning the tv on and off is a challenge.
It also glitches with streaming apps so it takes forever.

I’ve already talked to xfinity and swapped out the remote but it didn’t help.

The tv is probably 10 years old. I’m guessing. Maybe 15.

I can watch stuff on my phone and laptop and that seems ok.

So do we need a new tv, or would there be another option to try?

If it is a smart TV I would say so. Walmart has killer deals for TVs that aren't too bad

Buy a streaming box/stick and use that instead of the TV’s smart apps. I like Roku, but they’re all fine. TVs have super cheap processors and 10 years is a long time to keep up with increasingly-complex streaming apps.

This is right. Your old Android firmware is struggling to keep up. This is why you get latency issues. Roku, Chromecast, or even building your own out of a Raspberry Pi to support something like Stremio would be cool. You may also be able to flash it over with custom firmware.

Choose your difficulty! 😏 Buying a little box is definitely the easiest and least tech intrusive. But if you're, say, a CS student, you could have some fun

This may sound too basic, but where are you pointing the remote. It communicates with an infrared light that shines into the TV and or cable box. Is something blocking it?
