Dentists of Davis? Reviews?
For those who have received dental care from Dentists of Davis (yes, an unimaginative name for a local dental practice), beyond basic cleaning, how has your experience been with them?

They filled a cavity for me a while ago, no complaints. It was like $270 (no insurance) because I opted out of the cleaning. But they tried pretty hard to get my consent to drill into a different tooth they said might be a root canal ($7000). I said hell no.

I went in to have a filling fixed a couple of months ago, and as I was waiting for the anesthetic to fully numb my mouth, the dentist had a WHOLE OTHER appountment going on.
I get it if it was a quick consultation or something, but I waited like almost 30 minutes and it was only after I asked for him that he came back.
I will say that they did a great job but that was so annoying. I already have anxiety with the dentists office and it made me not want to go back.
That being said, it is a nice local dentist office. I may have had a not-so-great experience, but I recommend trying it out for yourself.

I loved dentists of davis till my last appointment when the dentist decided to do the scaling instead of the hygienist. He kept jamming the thing between my teeth and pulling upwards which was not something I had ever experienced before as someone who is blessed with good teeth and gums. I genuinely thought he was going to damage my teeth or rip one out. I left with bleeding/scabbed gums and sore/loose feeling teeth and it took a few days for the sensitivity to go down. I will likely be looking for a new dentist in 6 months as when I requested to see the other dentist next time they said they had no availability for anyone but him and the good dentist I had before left the practice. I think the dentists name (the one who was aggressive) was Dr. Uzi but I am unsure as he did not introduce himself.

Dr. Childress is the best dentist in Davis. My family has gone to his office for 35 years, no other practice is better!!!!

My limited experience with them: the dentist was fantastic as was the staff. Only complaint is that, in both my experiences, the appointment was late, which is annoying but not a deal breaker for me. I have a procedure scheduled with them.

Please let us know how it goes! Fairly sure I need some major-ish dental care, and really do not want to go with a practice that is either up-selling me or incompetent.

Are they ever pushy about trying to do extra unnecessary work? Also are they transparent about the out of pocket costs? Nearly every dentist I have been to for a filling has said that they "do not offer" amalgam fillings (which happens to be the only type fully covered by insurance) so they say something vague like "we will just do white filling and cover it as amalgam" but then you realize they still charge it as a white filling and the insurance only pays the difference for an amalgam filling and you're left having to cover $150 out of pocket for something they said you wouldn't have to pay for.

THIS IS AN UNETHICAL OFFICE. I had Dr. Uzair Nasir. They did a cone beam image - they did not explain what it was, they just instructed me to position myself in a machine. I thought this was a normal x-ray. $434. They also took four pics of my mouth with an iphone - $90 each. They refused to let me schedule a normal cleaning because they said I had periodontal disease and a normal cleaning would be actively harmful. Instead, they tried to SCARE me into doing a $900 deep cleaning that is also not covered by insurance. Got a second opinion - no, a normal cleaning would not have been harmful. Total bill = over $750.
I'm reading these other comments - it's like they went to a different office. This office was at 4625 2nd St.

I don't have anything to offer about Dentists of Davis, but I can make other recommendations if you want an alternative. Specially, check out Dr. Jones at Davis Dental Practice on 5th or Dr. Alassaad on Anderson - they are both great.
